    BLUF:
    Get seat Risers

    BACKSTORY:
I'm 36, 5'11 175lbs. Military background ground pounding with explosives. Blew out my L5S1 with nerve impingement. The Tacoma driver's seat has not been my best friend.

    SOLUTION:
I searched and searched for relief. I have a Jobri lumbar and hip support I use if I'm sitting at a desk, on long trips I put it in the truck. I researched the various people here and other sites that made risers. Also looked into just buying spacers from the box store.

After reading a few hundred pages on these and seeing the interactions between the builders and the buyers I went with @olecoot because of the positive feedback, price point, option to get the bolts from him or not, ability to return if not satisfied and quality of build.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fs-aluminum-seat-mod-spacers.561819/

    RESULTS:
I ordered these on Wed evening and received them on Saturday! Shipping was fast and the risers were well packaged. I installed them in the gas station parking lot in about 3-4 minutes.

    • First "sit" in the truck I noticed my weight distributed more evenly and there was less strain on my hips and less pressure on my mid/lower back
    • I felt like my body had more contact to the seatback whereas before it felt like my spine was a pivot point on the seatback
    • My hips didn't feel like they were pushed out and tense
    • Visibility was improved. I had an improved field of view
    • I felt so much more connected with the seat that steering "felt" easier as well
    • I genuinely enjoyed the feel of the seat. It felt like I was using the entire seat to support my body
    • The install fit and finish is wonderful. I'm still able to use the dust caps for the mounting points and my floor mat still sits flush
    • You can really see the difference from the passenger's side with the door open

    FINAL THOUGHTS:
This is the first "mod" I felt was done just for ME. Not for the truck. We recently evacuated for Hurricane Dorian (Two small kids and two Weiner dogs + hurricane = bad times). I wish I had these for all of that driving. Especially once we got to Atlanta where's there's tons of traffic. The increased field of view since installing is so nice.

I'll shut up for now because this is already too wordy. If you're on the fence, take the hop.

Give me a follow and let me know if you have any questions.

I had a 2012 TRD OR and the seats were absolutely terrible, I also have had an L5-S1 fusion and I could feel that metal bar pushing against my lower back during a short 2 mile trip into town. I traded that truck to lower my payments (medical reasons) and bought my 2015 Access can SR5, what a difference the seat made without all the side bolster's, I don't know if it sits flatter but I don't have that metal bar pushing against my back anymore. I haven't done the seat riser mod yet and I don't see myself doing it anytime in the near future.

I got mine from a different supplier but mine do the same thing and I agree with you 100%.
PS: I wish these had been around when I got mine, I like them better.

They came with the XSPX Package. I really like them. They're a fake leather but clean up like a champ!

Great write up!! Not too wordy at all in my opinion. Explained why you needed them, and how good they were in a real life situation. It was great information.

    Awesome looking Tacoma!!

I’m 6 1 and about to order 1” for the drivers seat. My problem is the horrible field of view, plus my 5’ wife refuses to drive it since it’s worse for her. She drove my 4wd F150s for 35 years and loved it. I guess I’m numb to the back issues so I look forward to finding out I may be more comfortable as well!

Here’s my original thought and question. I was looking for a configuration of 2” lift in the rear of the seat and 1” in the front. Based on your height and experience with those 1” spacers, do you see a problem with my idea? I’m more leg than torso so I probably need more lift than most 5’ 10” guys. It appears I have at least 4” of head space now. I wonder about 2” causing problems for me getting in and out.

I’m ordering two one inch spacers today either way, in case it’s enough for me AND HER. Been dealing with this since I bought it new in 2016.

I'd say worth a shot. Your seat already has a slight angle to it. You could try them just in the rear or all the way around. I hope it works out for you!

There is another member that builds the front. It wouldn't hurt anything I am sure if you go that route. If it were just for your 5' wife I would build her 2" rear, ( Done a bunch for short folks) but for a happy medium you are probably closer to a fix your way. I would still start by pulling them 2 rear bolts picking the seat up and slide a piece of wood under the 2 spots or something and let her sit in it. Go all the way up to 2" in the rear and I guarantee she will be amazed. And then if 2" is too much for you, I would go the route your thinking, 2" in the rear and 1" in the front. Easy Peasy.
