Good morning again. Slept in then got up and put together another load of jerky. (Note to self: Don't put cup of coffee near tray when spicing meat. Onion powder, garlic, paprika, chili powder and pepper do make for an interesting taste with coffee but not all that great).

Going to have to hire an exterminator. Little tiny piss ants raised their victory flag in a box of Lucky Charms. Luckily that was the last bowl in the box. Fixed the boy a tortilla and cheese. He's good.

Not many rain gutters around here and I don't have any, but my front yard really needs work. Waiting for it to cool down so I can trim everything up and get rid of dead limbs and overgrown grass. I'm usually pretty good about keeping it cleaned up but failed miserably this last year.

Well, yes and no. They are typically just firefighters with an additional skill identifier. Once they go into action they get jump pay, hazardous duty pay, OT and travel pay. They also get some kind of differential pay for nights/weekends/holidays. We have folks that use their normal duty pay to live on and use their other pay for toys. We don't have any jumpers, but our guys have some nice trucks and whatever toys. Depending on the fire season or if they are called to other fires, they can have really good pay days. This was a pretty boring season locally, but our guys go all over. You can even pick up a lot of those pays for logistical folks. Camp security, moving heavy equipment, water truck drivers, etc. A few folks have been trying to get me to do it but I really don't need the OT and want to stay closer to home.

Been a few years but had that happen more than once in Co. on the Wyoming border while mule deer hunting. Or rather driving to do so.

Youngest son likes Caribbean jerked chicken. Breasts. Skinless and boneless. Marinating them for a couple of hours does add a lot of flavor. With Red Peppers roasting over the heat of the snake. With apple wood for smoke.

But I still prefer my thighs. Skinless, boneless, marinated in Caribbean jerk also. Another pepper. After the breasts were done.

Sliced potatoes, onion, carrots, garlic, butter, Montreal chicken seasoning, and some left over Italian Sweet Sausage. At the end cut open and covered with 24 month aged Parmesan.

Was going to smoke chicken wings on the kettle tonight with the Vortex. Not so sure I am now. Full.

    Was really really good.
