Looking to get a Daily Driver SUV for around $3,000. The SUV has to be reliable, easy to work on and parts have to be cheap.

The 3rd gen 4runners are just too in demand and I don't want to spend the kind of money people are asking.

Currently have a 2001 tacoma prerunner that I'm planning on selling for around 9k

    I live in Los Angeles.

not sure about prices around you, but I picked up a 2 door Yukon for a everyday/winter car. Relatively cheap, reliable, and parts are cheap and everywhere. Plus I’ve always liked them since high school. In my opinion more curb appeal than a 4 door.

Pretty much lol. I think they’re a pretty solid ride. I’m not a lead foot, so I have no problem getting mid 17 mpg on highway at 75. With the 33s. Crazy tight turning radius. The vortec moves it with ease.

That’s a ‘97. I believe 96 was first year of Vortec. Noticeable increase over the older TBI motor. Still not a race car. It will get off the line with authority compared to my Taco and 5th gen 4Runner. But both will get past it on the top end. It shines more on the reliability and affordable parts. Complete brand new long block with warranty is under 2grand, rebuilt trans with warranty is under a grand, ect.
