Reminds me of my trip this summer. Fished at several different lakes, not even a bite.

I think its cause my tackle/lures are all for the shallow, murky lakes that I live near. When I used lures designed for 3 feet of water in lakes that are 100+ feet deep, they werent gonna do the trick. And I wasnt planning on buying deep lures to only use them once. Did have to buy a new rod mid trip though. Leaned it up against the open tailgate and forgot it was there later that night when I closed the tailgate. Fishing rods dont take kindly to being closed in a tailgate lol. Walmart to the rescue! haha.

Yeah I admit I know next to nothing about fishing. I enjoy doing it though. I just got a cheap pole and artificial lure kit which didn't work for me. I used it a few weeks ago at a lake closer to my house and it was the same story, but someone else let me have a few of their live worms and on my 4th or 5th cast with a live worm I caught a trout. A tiny trout no bigger than the palm of my hand, but still...lol. I'm convinced it's a miracle if you can catch something with artificial lures. I've never had any luck with them. But that's probably got more to do with my lack of skill than anything.

Works with fly fishing, but that's about where you cast and how you imitate real life.

I hate using soft lures, never catch anything with them and theres a huge learning curve required to use them. I like spinner baits and crankbaits/hard lures. Cast out and reel in, not much science to it aside from speed. Once I get a certain color figured out, I can slay the bass. Cant go wrong with a worm either, except around here all you'll catch are tiny bait stealers.

Yeah that's what I was using this weekend, spinning lures and artificial bait specified for trout. But, I don't even know if trout was what was supposed to be in that lake. So I can't blame the tools, lol. It was still fun to do though, fishing is relaxing whether or not you catch anything. Except when my line would get all twisted to shit and I'd have to cut it loose and start again.

My favorite bait for trout, if its legal where your fishing is canned corn kernels. Streams in NC dont allow it, but some of the stocked ponds/lakes do and it never fails.

To trout fish in NC rivers/ streams, the bait has to be artificial, metal, single hooked, no barb. And theres a ton of other regulations that are annoying, therefore I haven't trout fished in the streams in ages.

That's a good use for it, only downside of lemons is the cost to put all the safety equip in, including a cage.
