Anyone have a spare ECU w/ TRD flash from 2013 or I think 2014?

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
I gotta pickup one as well. I wanna keep flashing but need some insurance. ECUs for 13-14 Auto 4wd are fairly cheap on eBay, 80-120. However, getting a TRD flash will be a little more challenging. I think some guys on here can burn it, but not sure.

I just bought a cheap knockoff techstream from Amazon so I can back bleed my brakes using my laptop.

Yah I plan to do that as well and like you said some insurance. Hoping to get one with flash on it so I know I have a working setup. Not a big deal but worth an ask. Was offered one but it’s for an earlier year so it won’t work

Did you purchase the updated rear disk conversion? The update being the e-brake.

not sure if its updated but it does have the e-brake kit for it. bought it off another member awhile back. With my truck being an offraod I can't upgrade the master so its had me wondering what to do. SOS said it will work but would have a softer pedal and not sure how I feel about that.

Check out their website again, and compare to what your kit is. It may be updated or not. Worthy of the investigating to know for sure. Early kits had a hard time or users to get the e-brake to work as well as OEM. New kit alleviates that.

interesting... how far back did they update it? I just need to decide if I am going to use it or not. The other option is if I feel the need to beef up the rear with a bigger axle that setup would have a disc setup already. I will check it out and see what I have as I am not sure what to look for just yet. Anyone do the conversion that has an Off Road with electronic booster vs the Hydraulic regular version?

I have a vacuum booster, but ran the kit without the Sequoia MC for almost two years. It made a big difference stopping 35” tires, especially in traffic with repeated hard braking. The drums are doing nothing.

With the MC it was another big improvement.

Edit: the master makes the fronts hit harder too.

yah, really want to install it and 2nd that 100% on running 35's. I just swapped in WilWood Aero6-DS 6 pistons Calipers up front. Just need to get a good bedding of the pads. I was mainly hesitant on the disc conversion since I can't add the sequoia master.

New calipers on 5th gen T4R rotors (used to have that setup) have new dba rotors coming it are on back order.

Some fancy electronic one that’s only on the OffRoad and Pro models making it near impossible or not cost effective to replace ( honestly not sure there is one). How much softer was it without the upgrade master? If I can't update it I was going to look into the wilwood adjustable proportioning valve and see if that could be a possibility. Seen a few people mention that. I think the extra brake boosters in the offroad setup is what mixes it up some. It may already be a bit more powerful than the sport (honestly not sure) so may not be too bad. Its one of those once you start you can't go back without replacing the entire axle since you need to cut off some stuff to install or at least thats what I saw in the install notes.

Did you install yourself? If so how was it?

This is the kit. E brake stuff is in there somewhere but would have been good up to 2017 Tacoma so it’s fairly new.

Same one I got years ago.

I wonder if FJ/4R have electronic masters that are better proportioned for a rear disk with all those extra features.

Regardless, it’s an improvement either way. Plus you can upgrade to the stoptech four piston later if you want. Take a sharpie and scribble out the stoptech tag.

yah I thought about a TR4 or FJ as a possibility. The Tacoma OR added a brake booster for towing on them not sure they did that on the TR4/FJ. Either way from what I gathered its a PIA if you want to replace that.

If its really not that soft I may go ahead and do it. Braking alreayd is a crapshoot with how heavy the truck is and the heavy ass 315 KM3s on it currently.

The pedal didn’t feel any softer than before. Just do a good vacuum flush and protect that ABS valve body from air as you probably know. Ditch all the rubber lines too. There are Stoptech braided lines that match that rear kit available though SOS.

I was also curious if Wilwood has a adjustable proportioning valve that will fit and a master
