I wouldn't consider that area coal country. I drive my 4runner up just about every weekend for the past 3 years and I haven't had any issues and neither has any of the locals up there related to coal dust. It has been dusty lately tho due to lack of rain but the dust isn't from coal, it's from the dry gravel & dirt roads. We do change our air filters more periodically due to the dry dusty conditions.

My driver side axle seal is leaking too and wheel bearing is shittin the bed. Its a brand new axle seal too that we just put in a few eeks ago so i'm gonna try to replace the wheel bearings first and see if that helps the leakage

Speakin of replacing my hubs, anybody have a big torque wrench that goes up to 173 ft-lbs? Im gonna need one for the axle nuts nd not sure if i trust the autozone rental ones to be calibrated right

Technically you're suppose to torque'em with a torque wrench but I do the same.

I think for most other things it should be fine, but I've heard proper torque of the axle nut is crucial to the life of the wheel bearing. I always torque everything to spec tho

I think my torque wrench is 25-250 ft lbs, but it was not an expensive one and I've never calibrated it. Nothing has ever fallen off tho. o_O

Been wrenching since i was old enough to answer to “boy, get me that!” Or “god damn it, I can’t see! Where is my flashlight holder?!!”

And i probably only torque things half the time.

Lug nuts are all that i feel should be torqued every single time.

lol. its probably just age, it has 98k miles and im sure non of the maintenance got done.

yeah, but yours is probably just a bad seal. and if your gonna do the bearings might as well do the seal, gotta remove it to do the bearings anyway.

Same. I don't torque everything with a wrench. Most of the time it gets torqued with my built in wrenches. My issue is remembering that I remembered to tighten something or wake up in the middle of the night and remember I left my screwdriver sitting on the bumper or where did I put my 10mm
