Same here.. although I did Ziebart (highly regretting it from what I've been reading)

I hope for our sake we didnt lose our chance at getting a frame replacement by trying to protect our frame lol

My truck's two weeks old, my plan was always to FF it (or try Woolwax) before the snow-n-salt flies this year. But the fact that there's already warranty noise about the frames on the third gen has me wondering... should I have the dealer apply CRC now? If for no other reason than so I have a paper trail showing I've done everything Toyota recommends in terms of frame maintenance and rust prevention in case my frame ever fails down the line and I get any bullshit from the dealer... Like, do CRC this winter, then next year go right to FF/Woolwax next year.

Only issue is I don't think Noxadul (I believe that's what the CRC is?) works nearly as well as FF or other lanolin-based products, and I don't particularly like the idea of my truck spending its first winter with sub-par protection just in the name of some bureaucratic ass-covering. I've also heard that if you're paying for it out of pocket, the CRC is stupidly expensive.

    Bleh. Fucking road salt, man.

I know... it sucks that even going great lengths to make our vehicles last the salt will eventually get to them.
I get what your saying tho it might not be a bad idea to have them CRC it and then do whatever you want afterwards. If I knew what I know now, I'd probably not even get it undercoated and let the thing rot and once the next frame gets put on THEN protect it at all cost.

Why not just get Toyota to do the free CRC to cover your ass and then FF it yourself a few weeks later? Are the two products not compatible? Most dealers would probably do a shitty, incomplete-fast-and-nasty CRC application anyway......

I received the letter on Saturday.. I guess I’ll schedule it soon. Lol I just bought a case of fluid film too. I noticed in my letter it says that dealers can refuse to do the coating if aftermarket accessories are in the way so I guess I’ll need to remove sliders before I take it in

This all bullshit on Toyotas part. Yes it is a less expensive truck. If you call $35,000-38,000 many of us paid?!?!? We should not be extorted at the dealer at time of purchase to buy additional undercoating. We sure as hell shouldn't have to take a day out of our time after dropping $36k to spray a buncha fluid film everywhere underneath.

This is par for the corporate course. I seriously hope this bites them in the ass. I hear none of my friends worrying about their Ford frames.

So now that many of us have tried to be proactive by spraying fluid film are now going to be forced to have the Toyota undercoating be applied which is going to either cover the fluid film with black coating, or not stick due to the fluid film being on??!?!?!? No way any of us would be able to get all the fluid film off.

This is a pile of *%#%*! HORSESHIT!

Crc is a rubberized coating. No way this is going to be compatible with fluid film.

Oh ok. Ill call the moving company. Quit our jobs. Say goodbye to all the extended family. Kids will cry but will be comforted to hear the Toyotas frame will not rust. Did not pay $36k to deal with this bullshit.

I had the CRC done by Toyota before I took delivery of my 2017. Since then I have two Krown treatments applied and the CRC is holding up just fine.

Cool, that's really good to know. What, exactly, is the CRC? Is it a rubberized coating, or is it waxy? I was under the impression it was Noxadul. And did the dealer throw it in as part of the sale, or did you pay--and if the latter, how much was it?

I'm in Florida. I didn't get a letter, but I did get a call from the local stealership asking me to bring the truck in for inspection.

The ownership of the problem has led to basic people simply assuming it’s a Toyota thing. That’s a shame.

I live in a snow state, took ownership of my ‘17 just before the winter of ‘16...no rust. All you have to do is take care of your truck and put in some effort with quality sealing products and a hose.

Understanding how companies, products, and how rust/steel work will go a long way. Rubberized or hard coatings will crack and let in moisture, hiding the corrosion. The companies like to make money though, so they will still market and sell it for our application. Avoid them and use mavcoat or fluid film. I prefer mavcoat because it’s worked better for me in my experiences, and doesn’t smell like a goat.
