Glad i bought a 2019

I just did a build on a 2020 TRD sport with the same options i have on my 2019 and the sticker was 41,000 plus change. That is over 6,000 more than i paid. The only thing i saw different was the ten way seat.

 

Glad I bought a 2016. Only model without the TSS

 

Not so fast -- my 17 too .

 

18 was the best year.

 

19 here. No transmission issues, either or cruise control, non OEM grille and no sensor issues. Built like a tank. 35,800 loaded +.

 

Could go down as that way. Same TSS as the newer models. Both bed cubby's. Prior to the steel tariffs. Initial issues worked out from the new design. I've had a few issues, more than my 2nd gen for sure, but I'm definitely keeping it for a very long time looking at the 2020 prices. It's such a steep jump.

 

No issues with mine, no vibrations and hunting for gears. However I have the tsb58 done. I just don't see how others have so many issues. I'm happy as can be with mine. I do think plus sizing the tires and the tab made it even better.

 

Those are MSRP... I'm sure once the invoice prices get around you'll find folks spending much less on non-Pros than the configurator on Toyota's website. My truck was $39500 MSRP and I bought my '17 OR for $35. Guessing folks will get a new OR if they want for $37 with the new features...

 

17s will be the unicorns. No TSS and rare to have 2016 issues.

 

Dont forget about the fancy lights.

 

Thats what I keep telling myself. Got a 2017 inferno.

So have a discontinued color, no first MY problems, no TSS to get in the way of mods, AND I still get the power sliding rear window

 

I built a 2020 exactly the way my 2019 came: TRDOR DC with automatic, Premium and Tech packages.

The MSRP difference between 2019 and 2020 came out to only $1,500...$41,170 vs $42,750.

Considering the 2020 includes a power seat, nicer headlights and a few other minor touches, I don’t think the price increase is that bad.

So many complain about tss yet since I’ve had mine, although a very short time, I’ve had zero issues with it thus far. Think I’m now over 6,000 miles due to two long out of state trips totaling nearly 4,000 of those miles but still tss not a problem.

The safety sense feature actually engaged once temporarily which let me see its value. I was driving down the road around 70mph and a car was in front of me. This car had been in front of me for several miles and was going into the turning lane. This turning lane was long enough he didn’t need to decelerate much prior to braking while in the turning lane. Anyway I didn’t let off the gas pedal completely just slightly throttled back a bit anticipating him to briefly slow a little before merging to turn. In this event, however, I began to narrow the original gap of around 150’ between his vehicle and mine to around 50’ (approximately). As I got closer to his vehicle my truck started beeping like crazy and I felt the brakes engage temporarily. If this were an actual moment where I just wasn’t paying attention then my truck would have hit the brakes for me and avoided a collision. Anyone who has ever driven a vehicle the situation could easily happen even if you yawn or look away or whatever. If you say you never look away and that couldn’t happen to you, you’re perfect and I’m not and I’m part of the 99% that this feature would help.

 

Safety systems just let people drive more distracted, in my opinion.

 

I stand corrected: a 2020 TRDOR identical to mine is $43,600. That’s almost $2,500 higher than the MSRP on my 2019 ($41,170).

That does seem a bit steep for adding a power seat and revising the headlights.

I agree. TSS is definitely something I wanted on my ‘19 Pro.

Coming out of a Colorado I love the tech and convenience features of my Tacoma. I absolutely love the push button start and keyless entry feature. No more fumbling around for an ignition key!!! Other features like turn signals in the mirrors, LED running lights, etc. are just icing on the cake. I only wish that Toyota made LED taillights a standard feature on the Tacoma.

 

I slammed on my brakes a few weeks ago as traffic came to a halt. Looked in the mirror to a woman who was face down staring at her phone. I braced to get hit, her car slammed the brakes for her. Her face said everything. I'm so glad her car had it. Was she only driving distracted because her car had auto braking? I'd say probably not. Without it, I'd be looking for a 2020 right now I'm betting.
