Chill, ALL frames rust in salt, a 39k truck is piss water compared to a 300k Kennworth.

Those rust to and have aircraft grade sealer and harden epoxy paint.

Sell yours, responsibly is on the owner/service personal to look under the truck, even when I did fast lube, I still looked front to back on the vehicle, shake down the front, attempt to ID leaks and check tyres and brakes.

Toyota has at least come up with a plan to address this, Chevy,Ford,Ram,Jeep......no acknowledgment that this happens and when something comes up they respond with “you didn’t wash the truck” or something.

    Just chill bro.

It is a rubberized coating applied to the frame. The waxy stuff was also applied to the inner panels. Not a fan of wax jobs so I have the Krown applied to the whole truck annually.

The red that you see is red mud from dirt roads on Prince Edward Island.

Oh yes..... lets say thank you while pee dribbles down our back while they tell us it’s raining out.

Its a good truck. But, they have had 20 years to fix this.

The issue is how will crc be applied to our tacos who have been pro actively fluid filmed? Do we have to allow the crc to be applied in order to have the frame warranty?

Hey guys, I know this has devolved a bit into a frame prevention thread. But I think to answer the campaign question, we have to get some outside information from an article or something. I'm going to go talk to my dealer about it today to get some information. I am worried a little bit that this might be fake. Please put in some outside source if you guys have seen anything. I'll report whatever I find, and I hope that its true.

This I do not know. I had mine applied to a new frame thinking there might be issues later on. I would imagine that with a yearly application of fluid film there shouldn't be any issues with frame rust.

I’m wondering what toyota is going to say to customers who has already done some type of treatment, given Toyota’s terrible track record with their truck frames especially the Tacoma frames.

I’m thinking they will try and use that as a way to avoid liability and replacement in the future as stated in the letter and it’s probably going to open up into another class action lawsuit.

Being curious as I immediately undercoated my frame as soon as I bought my Tacoma due to the frame issues of model years past, I should email them and ask for a response as to what my options are. If the frame rots and I don’t do their spray they won’t cover the frame. If they spray over my undercoating and it fails then they will blame me and deny coverage. If my undercoat fails and I have their spray then they won’t cover anything. Or they just may say they can’t do anything since I took matters into my own hands.

This could get messy. I’ve debated keeping the truck for a long period or getting rid of it. Originally I planned to keep it for a long time, then I debated back and forth. Almost pulled the trigger on a new Titan midnight edition the other day. Now after confirming the frame issues have been extended to currently up to 2017 models, I’m not going to keep it any longer than another year.

I did a VIN search and there were no recalls found, but the local stealership has contacted me twice in the past few weeks. Once about the air pump replacement and the other for the frame inspection.

It says on the form if you don’t get the CRC applied you won’t be eligible for a frame replacement should it get to that
