bilstien shocks

hello, im thinking about getting new shocks all the way around. I contacted sonny from downsouth motor sports on ebay and he said he would sell me billy 5100's for the front, and bilstein 5125 10 inch travel for the rear, and with the stem converstion for $341 bucks. do yall think this is a good deal? and would i need extended break lines for the rear. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

 

What kind of set up do you have in the rear that you'd need 10" of travel for the shocks?

 

And you will only need extended brake lines if you have 3"+ of lift.

 

sorry for not being more detailed. I have the toytec 884 lift coil with the aal in the rear. I think im going to need shocks with 10 inches of travel to accomadate for the 3 inches of lift in the rear.

 

Can't really answer your question but...

I had the OME extended rear shocks on my truck and just replaced them with the billy 5125's -- I'm not terribly impressed by the billys and am contemplating going back to my OME's (good thing I kept them).

I'm not a huge fan of Billy shocks -- the OME shocks (front and rear - & IMHO) offer a better ride.

 

hey delmarva, what lift do you have, and did you use extended break lines for the rear? If you do switch out the 5125's for the OME are you willing to sell the 5125's?

 

It's a Toytec 885 + AAL... I have the SS extended brake lines as well for my longer rear shocks.

When I pull my 5125s, I'll sell them, along with brand new (unused) 5100s. More to come. I'll PM you if you'd like when I'm ready to part ways with the Billys.

 

Hmm makes me regret getting the 5100's to begin with... I first did the 5100's in the front stock in the rear and just ordered the 884 coils for the front to match my aal'ed rear. Did you have the 5100s at all in the front or ome only? Also did you need to use the top plate spacer to level off? Sorry for the 21 questions lol.

 

No worries - My shocks story is long and quite ridiculous -- however to answer your question:

Yes, I've run OME all the way around. I have the top plate spacers sitting on top of my coils. I did the initial install with them on.

Keep in mind that my truck is not my daily driver (40 miles 1 way to work, so I bought a pile of crap to throw miles on). My impressions may be warped as I typically only drive the truck on weekends.

 

Hmm... would you say that your front end is pretty level with the back end? Or is there any rake or more lift in the front? Thanks!

 

The rear sits 1/2" (ish) higher than the front. I have sagging on my front driver's side so it's a little lower. lol

Edit: I knew I had my heights: (driver side)

From ground to the bottom of the fender:

Front - 39.25"
Rear - 40.00"
