Well... gonna try to cut out a majority of caffeine out of my intake as of today as well as add more carbs at dinner aka rice.

Been chilling in the “hey I lost weight and can keep it off” phase and now it’s time to hunker down and shed ~10more lbs if I can to finally have that tone physique I’ve wanted for a while. 5’9.5 182lbs as of today.

No better day to cut caffeine than a Monday haha

I think you’ll find you feel better without it after the initial adjustment period.

    Good luck on your cut!

Well I stress way too much. And can’t sleep good. And anxiety has been through the roof lately.

I figured I might as well cut out the obvious stuff like caffeine to help it since the only thing that really can help is weed which is still illegal but getting drunk is A-OKAY” thing that somehow makes sense.

I found my sleep to improved tremendously when I stopped all caffeine. It took about a week or so but it got to the point where I was ready to go to bed when it was time and I woke up every morning about 5-10 before my alarm went off.

I stick to a cup in the morning now.

And I know I sound like a broken record on this. Yoga.
Nothing has helped me like yoga. Sometimes all I need to do are a few sun salutations before bed and that gets me breathing to de-stress. Plus it does help you recover from workouts.

My goal this week is to cut back on my beer.
Pretty sure I’ve said that every Monday the last two months but I mean it this time. Lol

Today is going to be a rest day I think. Probably will go to the gym and hit the eliptical for a bit, stretch, and foam roll.
Worked all weekend, Friday and Saturday till midnight. I’m just off. I need a nap.

Thanks for the accountability check. :fistbump: No, I didn't post a pic because I was in a hurry, but I did pop in to say I had hit a new low of 172# for this cut.

Full disclosure... I has a really fun weekend and my diet went to total shit. I'm bloated AF today. This was the first "fuck it" I've had since vacation. Back on the wagon today. Onward we go.

It's going to be 95% water. Within a few days you should be back to normal if you stick with it. I am the same way - wednesday I will be back to 208 roughly. (from 214)

Yep. Happens every time. Pretty cool really. I'll just hop back on my plan and try not to be stupid with the salt for a few days.

    @PackCon

Couple references for you on intermittent fasting and autoimmune disease:
    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28137612
    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27239035
    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/31442403

Not a ton specifically on Hashimotos, but the mechanism seems somewhat generalizable. The treatment options for the hyper thyroid period are symptoms only - so beta blockers and glucocorticoids. If your blood pressure is moderately high to high (so systolic above 130, or even 120 honestly) I would consider getting a mild and low dose beta-blocker. The long term cardiovascular risk is worth mitigating now. And, it will allow your heart to chill out between runs, so you will actually recover... plus there is the anxiety reduction. You don't have to agree to life-long treatment, no one is gonna make you pay for the pills if you decide you don't want them. I push the issue because you are someone who could possibly benefit. From personal experience, when you have a life-long disorder, its hard to conceptualize what life is like without it. You version of managing is probably someone else's version of hell. Give it some thought.

In terms of the starvation schedule, focus on two 24hr periods of not eating per month, and daily 16hr-18hr fasts. This means do all of your eating within a 6-8hr period every day, and then twice a month skip all three meals. What you eat is going to be based on your preferences. I avoid carbs, and I focus on fats/fiber/protein (my wife is gluten free, so this works well for her too). I did a 1-month warmup where I gradually switched to a keto-like diet (trail mix, piles of meat, huge salads, pork rinds, dark chocolate, all my supplements), and then started adding my daily fasting on top. I started push dinner closer and closer to lunch over the course of a month, and eventually skipped dinner altogether. I still 3-4k calories within my eating window.

And you know you cant be the asshole to refuse the company's food. Everyone looks at you weird, it feels awkward. They all assume you are on some stupid diet and comment, stupidly. Good luck.

It’s fucking weird how personally people take it when you’re on a diet. It’s like they think you think you’re better than them but really you don’t care you just have a goal and don’t want to get off track

10000000% spot on. Its rooted in justifying their own actions and protecting their egos. Get a small plat and nibble - no one will judge. Say you feel sick. Remember that one bad meal wont make you out-of-shape and one good meal wont make you in-shape.

Thanks for the articles. A friend of mine has Hashi’s and she does Paleo on a very similar IF schedule like you mention.
My average blood pressure is around 105-110/70. Its relatively low.
Last year I was dealing with a lot of stress and I was starting to push the prehyertension envelope but I was able to get it under control and I’m feeling back to normal.
If I was dealing with any hypertension though I would be treating it. You can’t undo years of artery damage. I’d take that pretty seriously.

Do you count macros? Curious what your overall diet looks like.

I’m a low carb fan as well. Its nice to meet an endurance athlete who doesn’t worship at the alter of the carbohydrate. You usually mention keto or low carb to a running group and you get viscously attacked.

I usually do under 100g net carbs per day. Higher protein, fat, and lots of fruits and veggies.

My new office is wanting to get together to do catering a couple times a month to do a luncheon. They asked what everyones restaurant votes are, I sent an email to everyone today saying I’m pretty strict on bringing my lunches in but I’m more than happy to bring my lunch and eat with everyone.

Just because you don’t eat doesn’t mean you still can’t socialize with everyone else and participate.
