Hey all Indy folk - recent Chicago refugee here in the south side of Naptown. We sold our building in the city faster than anticipated so we're currently renting in the Homecroft/Southport area. I won't be doing maintenance in an apartment parking lot, so until we find the right house (and pole barn :D ), I'll be paying someone to take care of whatever minor fixes my '99 Prerunner needs.

Any good referrals here for a Toyota/general local mechanic? I much prefer working with small businesses anyway.

Shot of my wife and kids leaving the alley for the last time:

I just need a number to add to the contact list. Considering I know no one around here yet, I was hoping to get local recommendations for general maintenance, wear items, chasing noises/leaks, nothing major, and nothing I need at the moment. Stuff I'd be doing in my own garage, for the most part.

Currently renting in Southport, shopping for houses in the general area though as our kids are already going to private school just a bit north of there. I actually looked at a place nearby that had a nice pole barn with a hydraulic lift . Unfortunately it is on an arterial street and with all the new construction in Franklin Township, there's about a million cars a day driving by, and since traffic noise is just one of the reasons we moved out of Chicago...

The south east side of Indy (specifically Franklin township) is a cluster F. Its not uncommon to sit at a stop sign for 30 plus cars to go through, on a Saturday. We have some family down there that we visit every few weekends, I cannot imagine what its like during rush hour!!

Yeah the new home construction in Franklin out there is moving way faster than the county can address the traffic situation. They are building those roundabouts all over the place which help somewhat. Of course, I always get stuck behind the granny, or the dolt who thinks they work like a 4 way stop sign intersection. They're not that hard to understand, people! But yeah, with limited east/west arterial streets, everybody hits the same 3 (Thompson, Edgewood, Southport) which are mostly 2 lane roads. :facepalm:In spite of all that though, it's still way less stressful (for us) than the traffic we are accustomed to. I should be able to make it down to Point Blank shooting range in Greenwood (where I'm about to go) in about 5-10 minutes which is just fine by me. My previously neglected Walther will be getting some greatly increased practice time now!

Sounds good. I work for a toyota dealer up here as a tech. If you ever need instructions or what not just ask. i can get them from TIS whenever (newer trucks are a bit more of a pain to get, but i usually just screenshot then send)
