installed lights with oem switches

spent the last couple days wiring and installing everything up..heres some pics

parts i used:
-aftermarket ebay fogs w/oem tacoma fog light switch
-kc all season 5x7 fog lights w/oem fj aux light switch..lights mounted on avid offroad light bar using kc 1.5-2" mounts.
-kc back-up/aux 2x6 light kit w/oem fj roof aux light switch..lights mounted on a rear waag bumper guard w/custom mounts.
-DTRL mod

i installed all the relays and fuses in this project box and ran wire looms to lights to keep everything neat and protected.

tnj- u dont cut anything..the blanks pop out and the fj ones just slide right in..the complicated part is the wiring because they are illuminated 2 ways..on the fj forums the guys provided the schematics.

u paid 60 bucks for an illuminated switch?

 

He paid $60 for an anesthetically matched switch that looks factory. Honestly on a $30k truck, I'd spend $60 for it too.

 

i didnt say it wasnt worth it. on my budget i couldnt but if i had a job i would. i think it looks super clean

 

lol yea I agree it's not to shabby at all. Granted it's not even $0.10 in materials but, boom goes the dynamite

 

it was the cheapest thing i could find that wouldnt be a hassle to install..i wanted back lit for at night so i could see them..and illuminated when "switch on" for the front and rear aux lights because they are hooked up to the 12v..so i can light up the front/rear without the key in the ignition. i agree, it is alittle much for my base model reg cab..but i plan on keeping it for a very long time.

 

yeah i completely get it. its gonna look like you had those switches stock 10 years from now i think it looks good but that sticker shock on the switches kinda surprised me thats all. put more pics of ur truck haha

I'm attempting to wire my driving lights in a similar fashion. Everything soldered, in wire loom, zip tied etc.

How'd you access the back side of those switch blanks and where did you get your project box?

 

the top blanks are harder to pop out so i carefully drilled a very small hole in the middle of one of them and then used a metal pick to pull it out. some people use a butter knife, but i didnt want to ruin the surrounding finish. if u do my method though, dont drill through the third blank..behind it is the inverter wire harness which is wired up whether or not u have one. i used this harness to tap into the hot wire to power the "illumination switch on"

i got the project box at radioshack. i believe its a 4x6x2...i also have a 3x2x1 box in the rear for the single relay that powers the rear lights/switch..i set it up in the rear so it was easier to splice into the reverse lights.

Looks great. How about a picture with the rear lights on? That's the rear bumper guard right? Looks good on a black bumper.
