    Hello all,

I'm looking for some sliders for my 15' Tacoma. I would like something around 10-20 degrees. I know there are a lot of threads on sliders. However, I would like the sliders to protrude out enough to protect from door dings. I haven't found any luck searching. I already have a dent in my front passenger door from some idiot. Any recommendations are appreciated

Im really happy with my sliders from Avid Off road. Mine have the kickout and the top plates and are also bolt to frame so I could use them as a jack point in a pinch. I think the angle is 12 or 13 degrees...no door dings.

sos concepts sliders with kickout, love my bolt on ones. Stick out past the body by a good chunk for sure! saved me a time or two when getting close to things.

Stubbs Welding, you can have your local muffler shop guy weld them on for a few bucks if you don't have a welder.

I just ordered some from Avid Offroad, should be completed in the next week or so! Super friendly and accommodating staff.

Admittedly, my sliders are used for deterring door dings more than rocks. I now gladly park next to cars. There would be instant regret for hitting these.

You really can't go wrong with the previously mentioned sliders though.

I personally think installing sliders to protect against door dings is kind of silly and maybe a waste of money. Could probably repair several door dings for the cost of sliders. Depending on the shape of the door many doors miss the slider entirely, especially back doors. Also they're meant to get the shit beat out of them, if you're to the point of needing sliders you're probably well past the point of caring about door dings.

That said the best place for sliders is the place that's nearest to you so you don't have to pay $$$ for shipping. See if any of the popular vendor around here are nearby.

My primary reason for sliders is off roading. It would just be a nice benefit to have sliders that prevent door dings. My truck is my daily too. And yeah makes sense, shipping is crazy expensive

I got my sliders as a dual purpose, to be used as a step for my very short wife as well as protection when wheeling.

My two cents would be to have them fabbed up by a reputable dealer and then delivered raw steel to you to have them powdercoater or whatever locally. Trying to ship these things as a finished product can be especially difficult.

Again Avid is the only company I've heard of that makes bolt to frame sliders if you ask them specifically. I haven't looked that hard but it seems other companies only make bolt to body or weld on sliders.

I second this, just installed mine. Perfect fit. Kickout is perfectly even with the rear tire with no spacers.

Check out the lead times of everyone your looking at too, you might be surprised.

SOS concepts AFAIK was the pioneer in Bolt on sliders WAY back. HUUUUUUGE beef frame plate something like 7 or 8 big ole bolts.... things are stout.

Also agreed, finished surface once you get them in hand... me preferably... Rustoleum hammered black spray paint.... EAAASY touch up and looks damned good.

I got my sliders bare. I hung them in the garage, roughed them up with fine sandpaper, cleaned them really well with rags dipped in denatured alcohol, coated with rattle can primer then rattle can flat black. The prep work paid off and they are still looking great 2 years later, it doesn't chip or rub off even right where my jeans rub it every single day (except of course where I drag them on rocks). And it's easy to touch up if I so desire but things don't rust here so I just leave the rock scratches be. So glad I didn't pay for powdercoat.

Sounds like I narrowed it down to SOS, RCI and Avid. Choices...

I've got Beefed (Streetacos- pretty sure he's banned from here now for failing to deliver products) bolt on with the kick-up. One thing to remember on a daily driver, they can be a PITA if they stick out too far. Catching your heel or rubbing your pants against them when they're dirty sucks (thus getting your work clothes pant's legs dirty- nothing like a road grime streak up the back of your khakis or red clay mark on your black wool slacks :homer:) or if you have a shorter wife or girlfriend who has to maneuver over them when getting in or out. Painted metal tends to get slippery when wet if you don't put something on them; put something aggressive like skateboard tape on them and it holds dirt and grabs skin and pants legs. It's all a trade off.
