I think of us as a collection of distant relatives, we can give each other shit respectfully and not stomp off offended or we can talk seriously about things and be supportive. We just aren't as close as immediate family.

Just don't rush into settling down; life's too short to "compromise" too quickly and too easily.

Have to find that right girl (or guy, no judgment lol) that'll accept you for who you are, and respect your values. Too often do people "try" to change for someone else, so much so that they aren't who they used to be. Happened to my bestfriend and over time, we weren't even friends any more. We recently texted and he's not even into what he used to be IE auto cross and shooting which we used to do together.

That's just like my little brother and his wife. Met in middle school, started dating in high school and got married in their mid-20s. They had one high school break up that lasted like 3 weeks lol. They're like a Hallmark movie couple, makes me want to barf. But also very happy for them.

Yeah, I appreciate that advice. When I was more insecure I definitely got into a relationship that involved compromising my friends, hobbies, and goals because that's what I thought I had to do for """""love"""""".

Ironically we had a talk where she was afraid I would be settling if I dated her but it's not so clear. To my understanding I wouldn't have to give up my goals or interests and it seems more like an insecurity on her part because she is a little bit older than me (30s vs 20s). So far I haven't felt the need to change at all because our interests/values are pretty heavily overlapped as far as I understand them. But, again, time will tell.

 

I feel like a 3rd genner is gonna walk in and report us for the gay jokes
