Given the highly discounted ZR2 and Bison models, why aren’t they flying off the lots? Are they better trucks simply because you can get them with more options? Interjecting my own personal use case, last time I checked the Colorado lacked any important safety features like blind spot monitoring.

The point I’m trying to make is there simply isn’t much competition in the mid size range that can really compete with the Tacoma. I’ve considered all of the above.

Are people really buying Tacoma’s for blind spot monitoring though?

Im not buying it for that, but that is one of the reasons I disqualified the ZR2 from consideration. I won’t own another vehicle that doesn’t have adaptive cruise for example.

Don't forget that the interior on the Colorado is just fucking horrible. That's almost the sole reason the ZR2 is off the list for me lol

Ranger has a garbage interior too lol

Yeah I wasn't impressed that the rear seats in the Ranger don't fold all the way down.

Adaptive Cruise Control is awesome! I won't own another without it as well. Just makes cruising the highway so much more tolerable - and safer.

Blind spot monitoring is nice too but 2nd on my list of 'best safety features'.

Lane departure isn't on my list. With the backroads we have in western PA, I don't want to be notified every time I touch the middle or side lines. It happens a lot on back windy roads. I guess it's good for highways and falling asleep at the wheel though.

Lane assist is about my least favorite safety feature on vehicles, never cared for it when I have tried to use it.

Anybody know what the lowest speed adaptive cruise works on the Tacoma? Does it still not go below 20?

It can be engaged at 28 and goes low as 25, I don't think the tacoma got the full range yet.

Has any Toyota gotten full range (down to 0 mph in stop and go traffic) adaptive cruise control yet?

In the end it doesn't really matter to me since I have the MT, but interesting to know nonetheless. I'm just happy I can shift down/up if needed while in CC!

Yes they do, they call it Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and is part of TSS 2.0 specification (apparently not all vehicles with TSS 2.0 will have it), Tacoma has TSS-P. Available On: Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Corolla, Corolla Hybrid, C-HR, Corolla Hatchback, Prius, Prius Prime

TSS 2.0 vehicles with just dynamic can do 19-110, full range is 0-110.

4Runner got TSS for 2020 and got stuck with TSS-P instead of 2.0, probably won't come to 4R or Taco until new generation maybe?

Yeah, if they don't have it by now I doubt they'll put it in the trucks until the next gen redesign. This is kind of their mid cycle refresh, so unless they do a big 3/4 cycle refresh, probably not going to happen.

As I said, for me in a MT it isn't really possible anyway, so not worried about it. I am worried though whether MT will survive into next gen.

I'll be fine with TSS-P on a Taco or 4R either way I go, just 4R lacks Blind Spot Monitoring which isn't a deal breaker.

It will be interesting to see if the MT or DCLB make it over next gen. 4R ditched the MT awhile back. Ranger, Gladiator and Ridgeline (unibody so I understand this reasoning) don't have a DCLB config and I could see next generation Tacoma dropping that as well. I think if the Gladiator keeps the MT Toyota as well since Chevy only offers it on the four cylinder.

This is a wild guess...but welcome to 2016? Safety features on any vehicle is a huge selling point from a consumer and business stand point.

One of my favorite safety/convenience features is the auto highbeams. It’s nice to set them and forget them. Especially on all the 2 lane highways here in Oklahoma.

Funny note on the adaptive cruise. My Father has it on his Ford truck and you can set the distance you want for it to engage. He had his maxed out and didn’t know you could change the distance. Hell, he didn’t even know he had adaptive cruise control. Took it in to the dealer saying the stupid truck won’t stay where it’s set at on cruise and keeps slowing down when people get in front of him. With it maxed, it would allow cars to keep getting in front of him because of all the space.

Blind spot, smart key, moonroof, homelink, powered rear window. None of it on the Chevy.

The only thing holding me back on the ’19 VB pro was CarPlay and they fixed it.

This is exactly the vehicle I want at this point in my life. Nailed it.
