    Yeah.
Details? It appears that it spent at least the most recent part of its life as someone's toy.

Someone else’s ranch vehicle. Now it’s going to be my ranch vehicle, after I fix the brakes and get it tagged

I saw an article a few weeks back about a guy who sold a kidney for the perfect Land Cruiser. Not sure if it was real or not but after seeing that, I'm starting to understand the thought process.

Yea, would take a kidney for me to afford one, and the chilled glove box is gimmicky, but it is being marketed in a desert. I'd be curious to see what it'd take to get one imported.

    Yeah.
I'd much rather pay $61K for that than $87K for the one they try to sell over here.

I’d consider trading a kidney for one! If you want to import it to drive legally on the road then it’ll never happen until it’s eligible for an emissions and safety exemptions in 25 years.

Very true, but sad, actually, when they have a market to compete against vehicles like the gladiator (Seriously? what kind of name is that for a vehicle) and would put them to shame. They never even gave it a chance here since Muricans like their posh and plush. Toyota only sold about 3800 new Land Cruiser 200 series in the US last year, or something close to that, so utilitarian may be on its way back. They don't want to compete with Tacoma either. We can only hope.

The 25% tariff on imported trucks would price it outside of what is even close to feasible. Add to that the incredible cost to certify that vehicles sold in the US meet safety and emissions standards and you really need to have a significant market to justify the cost. Chrysler on the other hand just developed an already established platform. They build it domestically to avoid those tariffs (even though most of the component assemblies are manufactured outside the US) and that allows them to basically control the utilitarian market from a price standpoint. It’s really unfortunate. We’d have a much more developed and competitive market for trucks if it weren’t for the chicken tax.

I guess we could all move to Johannesburg, SA or somewhere fun in Aus and have all the LC's we wanted. My Land Cruiser had all kinds of useless afterthoughts added to meet those US specs when it was imported (EGR and PAIR valve). Those went bye bye.

So, in other news....looks like this weather might break very soon and give us a decent weekend. Where we going? Water levels will be low, but less traveled trails will be grown up. Might be fun to attempt Bohannon? At least see how far we can get in there and camp.

Bohanan is a run we've been looking at for some time that goes between Middle Fork and East Fork of the Illinois Bayou. It shows on Gaia (and probably the Gazetteer) as FS1312C and goes from Middle Fork Road (W of Hwy 27 N of Hector) all the way to Smyrna. It looks like it follows Middle Fork Illinois Bayou, crosses several times and is pretty remote. I'm going to check the MVUM when I get a few mins to make sure its open. Maybe more of a SxS trail but honestly don't know anything about it. Could be a total bust of could be our new totally awesome super secret spot we tell no one about.
