The gas engine has been around for a while. Baby max not so much. But I heard some rumblings that the baby max has some issues they are working out. Not sure what or if it's really true.

Personally, the ZR2 looks goofy to me. The only thing I like more about the ZR2 is the diesel option. I’d take the TRD OR any day, simply because of the aftermarket support capability. Reliability is 50/50 with the 3rd gens so I’ve heard, but I’ve heard much worse from Chevy owners.

Very respectable response I can understand that your point of view. It would be interesting to see the upgradability of the multimatic suspension on the ZR2 with aftermarket suspension. But I think as far as accessories and stuff I do think a lot of the same accessories that is available to the Tacoma is also available to the ZR2. Granite the Tacoma has been around a lot longer and is a lot more popular so there are probably some things that are more readily available and cheaper for the Tacoma's based off of supply and demand factors.

I don't think it's LT the way you are thinking. It's still stock length arms and stuff just longer shocks and springs like a high end mid travel Tacoma suspension so to speak.

Gotcha. I see what you are saying. You have the pricing data for each? Fully loaded pro vs zr2?

There are a few people who have been towing light loads on dirt and BROKE THE CHEVY Frame, right after the cab of the truck

So aside from the unimportant stuff like resale and reliability, which truck has a bigger dick? Well...now I know the ZR2 has 24 of them! Who said you can't learn something from threads like this?

I had a chance to speak with the lead mechanic for our Toyota/Chevy dealer. His recommendation was to go Toyota. He mentioned that the specialty tools needed for Chevy's took up a whole room, where Toyota's tools could fit in a small chest. I can see this making it harder for the average person to work on. I also recall seeing the TSB list of the Chevy ZR2 vs the Tacoma. The list was huge for the ZR2. I stopped internally complaining to myself when I owned a 3rd Gen after seeing that. Still, I'd pick a 3rd Gen over a Chevy. Toyota's reliability is just more historically proven compared to others.

I wouldn't base the # specialty tools on how easily it will be for people to work on themselves. GM tends to make a specialty tool for everything. If you ever get a chance to read one of their tech manuals it's crazy how many they have and list for brake jobs and stuff like that. Specialty tools is another outlet for manufacturers to make money off the dealerships.

The ZR2 Bison model is the one you all should be addressing upgraded thru AEV lists about 50k but has the lockers and full skids, metal bumpers front and rear, and you can get a v-6 or the diesel. Road tests look good. Several long videos online comparing both. If Chevy had put a 5.3 in it with stronger diffs I would be a buyer now. I am thinking of a new truck (2009 Tacoma now) looking at Ram Classic 1500 with 5.7 and will go drive a Colorado Bison v6 to satisfy my curiosity. I had Ram rentals for almost 2 years on my last job and loved them and beat them hard turning traction control off as I got in - but a little big for trails. I think all of them are too expensive today so will probably just keep my old Tacoma and drive the fading chipped thing into the dirt.

You should read some Different Colorado forums and see what is breaking down. It's a Chevy
