    Toyota made it official today. They will be investing nearly $400 million to help increase efficiency at the TX pickup plant.

    Sounds like they're ramping up for the Tundra/Tacoma shared platform (possibly for 4th gen Tacoma) and the next gen hybrid 2021 Tundra

    That’s exactly what they are doing. Strong rumors are next generation Tundra hits next fall as a 2021 model, next generation Tacoma hits in fall of 2022 as a 2023 model.

    If it’s coming that soon I’ll just hold on to my 2nd gen for a few more years and probably hop into a 4th gen. Wonder if they’re going to keep the 3.5L

    They could invest triple that if they could ever straighten out their frame problems. Maybe they’ll get it right on this future shared platform?

    I believe Dana Corporation is still the vendor for all 3rd generation Tacoma frames.

    Doubtful 4th gens will have the 3.5L. Most likely it will be a turbo 4 banger, or a hybrid of some sort.

    Clearly you haven’t been around here for very long! Haha I kid. But yeah frame recalls due to excessive corrosion and rust, and transmission issues on the 3rd gen. Although that is probably due to Toyota’s tuning than the actual transmission.

    OK i get the salt on the road thing. We don’t have that where i live in Oregon and i never go to
    Portland. My Taco was built in 6/19 in Texas and has plenty of power and shifts great. I got on it this morning and was amazed how much power it has and how much noise it makes. I think my 5.0 mustang with Borla exhaust makes less noise.

    ARB Bumper, SOS sliders, SOS rear bumper, SOS skid plate. OME Lift. Some other stuff.
    With the announcement that the Tundra and Tacoma will share the same frame I'm now wondering if Toyota's plan is to make one a hyprid and one gas. I mean what's the point of two different models of trucks sharing the same frame.
