I went to Pismo beach for a day trip today.

I ran about 8 miles through the dunes in 2 Low with no problems. 265/75/16 bfg’s a/t e rated tires 16psi front 14rear, stock 3.91 gears, rear arb locked.

3rd gear 2low was great. Lots of power and I was able to roll into it on the smaller hills and cruise to the top no problem. The front diff ran a little hotter in 2low vs 4low, around 145 degrees vs 4low 130 degrees, but nothing to worry about. Fun times.

Front diff temp? Is that in the Torque or OBD Fusion apps?

    Interesting.
I would expect slightly higher front diff temp in 2lo compared to 2hi...

But would not have expected higher in 2lo than 4lo.

I guess even though there is essentially zero torque on that axle in 2lo, it is spinning the spiders a lot more in 2lo than it would in 2hi or 4lo. Must be the extra work on the oil causing more heat.

That said, those temps sound quite low to me. Was it blazing hot outside. Will try to check the manual for the front diff temp before it throws a code, just for reference... (waiting on hurricanes here... so much for holiday)

    Thanks
Can't find maximum before warning in the repair manual.

So can expect much hotter than that when it is 100F outside. Any extended 2Lo usage, probably recommend watching that

    Working on them
I finally did the 2 wheel low mod today because I'm taking break from weekend camping / fishing and besides this is one of the worst weekends of the year for camping with too many idiots out there.... anyways did the modification and I am totally impressed with it because it does perform well, Easy to install and now I have backed up the incline with my boat for the first time since I been pulling in forward and disconnecting, wiggling the truck back out and hand turning the boat no easy feat that has been and now I wonder why the hell I did not do the mod sooner..... So I want to make a shout out of thanks to @BigWhiteTRD for the original concept and to @lapoltba for taking it a step further making it an easy install Kit that is well worth the pennies it cost. So if you have a manual Gearbox get this on your :bucket: List to do. :dancingbacon:

Only 15 left! I added Venmo as a no-fee payment option. Sending out 5 orders from over the weekend and today tomorrow morning.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Speaking of that switch.... I took that one, and the CH4x4 one apart to see about swapping things around.

I forget who tried it before, but they were right, they are just different enough that it isn't a direct swap.

What I ended up doing is taking the connector housings (they just slip off) and swapping them. Then put the AOB circuit board, with the CH4x4 connector housing into the CH4x4 switch housing. I had to adjust the position of the LEDs a bit. The AOB board is slightly shorter so I just used some superglue to hold everything forward toward the switch face. It seems to work fine. If I had the patience I would have just swapped the LEDs but I didn't feel like screwing around with it.

Hmmm, so this isn’t the preferred switch? I thought they both worked in the standard cutout, and this was the better color match.

I wanted the "proper" symbol as well as the lighter blue color. Both switches work just fine, it just depends on your preference and level of OCD. :boom:o_O

So CH4x4 is proper symbol and AOB is proper color?
