M/T, it's slowly becoming a unicorn

Yep, unfortunately so. The C7 is the last Corvette (actually, the last world-class sportscar, for that matter) offered with a manual trans. The 2020 mid-engine C8 Corvettes only come with double-clutch automatics. I guess it makes sense in a sportscar as no one can shift as fast as the new automatics can.

 

Me: Knows the gear is in neutral

Me again: Shake it 6 more times, just to be sure

Don't worry woman I am making sure we do not stall!

 

New autos shift quicker than we can for sure. But when driving a sports car, the fun factor goes out the window. Might as well drive a AT camry.

 

Or have the misfortune of breaking your leg or ankle.

It will be interesting to see if they keep it around for next gen... They know enthusiasts want it and there is obviously a big enthusiast following with the tacos who give them a lot of free marketing and influence. Essentially the 5% are some of their most important buyers bc they amount to more than just sales... Similar to the Jeep Wrangler situation.

The current GT3 has a manual option. The demand came from US market. ROW the take rate was extremely low for 6 speed. Porsche markets the 6 speed as a no cost option. Ironically the the 6 speed tranny is a fraction of the price of their PDK. Leave it to Porsche to make greater unit profits on 6 speed

Yep, the problem is that few share that opinion these days. A US News & World Report article reports that only about 18% of the American driving public can operate a manual.
Manual Trans Corvette sales were only 22% of total sold, so no surprise they did away with the manual.

The manual transmission is what brought me to the Tacoma. Well I should say, because they are the only one I could readily find in a manual transmission, I didn’t waste much time shipping other brands

 

I noticed that too, however yota did reduce the models you could get the manual from 2018 to 2019 model year I think it was.
