There's a special connection the driver has with a vehicle in a manual vehicle. I think it absolutely the better choice for any kind of sports car, even a half ass "sorta sporty car. Hell, my truck is about the slowest thing on the road and the manual makes it more fun to drive!

It's not just about being more fun, I also don't need no stinkin' computer to tell me when to shift. I'll shift when I'm good and ready.

I heard that! I wanted a 4x4 truck with a manual trans and the only 2 options in the country was the Tacoma or the Dodge 3500 Cummins! Even that might not be an option anymore from Ram...

I think the Colorado was supposed to have a manual option but only in the 2wd trucks, at least in 2014 that was the rumor.

Before I got my 17, stopped at the Chevy dealership, asked about manual. Sales guy said, yep available, good luck getting one to test drive or buy. Then he asked if I wanted to trade my current Taco. I laughed and walked out, while he was telling me about the taco they took in on trade he was getting for his son in law.

It is the slowest thing on the road unless I get up to almost 4k for each shift which I seldom do because I like it slow and smooth.

Only way I was getting a Tacoma was if it was a manual. Love driving it.

Dont most cars/trucks make their power above 3-4k? Unless we talking about diesel or big v8s of course. I get around just fine below 3k most of time tho.

Interesting you mention the GT3 as mine was the worst of the few dozen sportscars I've owned over the years. Stayed in the shop more than my garage. But that's all I'll will say since this is a Tacoma forum.

I used to drive more aggressively but after a while I'm like what's the point. It's not a sports car and it will never be fast, it's a low powered tractor like vehicle. I've made peace with the slow lane. I sometimes think about going turbo or a supercharge kit but I'm the kind of guy who wants dependability and reliability above all.

Shifting gears below 3k, yep I will be one of the slower vehicles from the get-go. Especially here in Cali, drivers here are crazy. Can't wait to go back up to Alaska and not think about rushing anymore.

Once the hybrid/electric comes out, we will forget about MTs, which is not that far away.

That is true. Don't get me wrong most of the time it gets around fine but there are times, mostly on the highway, where I feel the sluggishness. You know, merging, long uphills and such. Of course it did better stock before all the crap I added!

Was anyone else bummed out about the new Supra not having a manual option? I may not be able to afford one anyway but it seems like the kind of car that should have a proper 6 speed.

136,000 miles on my DSG R32, loved that car. after it totaled only no-compromise requirement for a new vehicle was MT, thanks to the DSG... and it was tuned as well. different strokes...

There’s more value in having the manual than just the number they sell because it’s a manual. Manual owners tend to be enthusiasts. Manual owners often mod their trucks. Manual owners often live the lifestyle Toyota promises in their advertisements and hype. So there’s likely a halo effect that comes from people seeing all those manuals out there. They may not buy a manual, but they buy a Toyota because they bought into the lifestyle they were shown.

Just another perspective on the value of the manual.

Why was the GT3 the worst ?
The GT3 is a true sports car
Had a 15, loved it along with PDK
Upgraded to the new RS, PDK is even better. Porsche developed the PDK in the 1980’s through their racing teams. It’s been an evolution and it’s perfect
    Ferrari
    Lambo
Did away with manuals years ago

so exactly this. i drive for fun. who can make a sports car fun on public roads? all you do is hold back. that sucks. after a number of them, I'm done with that, so boring.

that's why i got the Taco. ride up to the limit all day and nobody even knows. well, sometimes. i can be a bit fast in this thing. while i shift casually like a truck driver.

DSG was crap. BMW and Audi did away with DSG about a decade ago, now using a true dual clutch
You can’t compare a DSG to a modern dual clutch
Had an R35, true dual clutch. It was good, until I tried a PDK

I really enjoy a manual too, but that pdk is something special. It really snaps through the gears when needed. The logic they put in there to know what gear you want next is pretty good too.

Get spirited with the gas or brake, it’ll keep the rpms higher even under hard braking. They truly do perform well and bring their own engagement.
