3.4L supercharger

My AFR numbers aren't perfect but a lot better than they were before I installed the URD 7th injector kit, and I was only running the stock supercharger setup and pulley. Still am. My 3.4l loved to ping like crazy especially under 2500 RPM in just about any gear. Burned through my catalytic converters and had to replace them $$$

If you notice you're running lean or hear any pinging when under boost (you'll definitely know if you do), start looking into fuel mods asap. I would recommend methanol injection over the 7th injector personally. Increases octane to eliminate ping and does an excellent job of cooling the intake.

These superchargers don't have intercoolers like some of the newer ones do, so they get heat soaked easily and that kills performance especially in hot weather. Meth really helps with that

 

I don't think the Magnuson kits come with Gates belts but I could be wrong...I got a Gates belt awhile back I think it was only $30 or so.

 

These engines can handle whatever the supercharger can throw at it because the supercharger is limited to the amount rpms that equals boost. You just have to make sure your AFR are good

 

At 6000 feet he probably will not with the stock or 2.2 pulley, at sea level possibly .

2.1” or 2” you will need methonal or 7th seventh injection and a better feel pump

 

The nice thing about the Innovate gauge I have is it has both the AFR and the boost and vacuum all in the same gauge.

You can switch to have either boost or AFR as you lead position and either or as the 2nd position or switch them the opposite or have just one as your lead screen.

You can have a white or black dial.

A light will comes on if your AFR is outside of the safe AFR ratio that you program.

Also has a button setting that keeps tabs of you max boost between each time you turn the truck on and off

Methonal is the best of both worlds because it cools the supercharger, adds octane to 110 and cleans the intake of your motor for carbon free deposits, but more maintenance.

Here is my throttle body and valves, all squeaky clean, will never have to clean either one of these again, top of the pistons and cylinder would be the same too.

AND ANOTHER members 3.4 valves that you can barely see with no methonal with carbon choking the valves. The chocked covered valves on this motor I think had 125k miles or something, essentially it’s a low mileage engine.

When the supercharger is installed you should have them take a photo of the valves and throttle body inside to see if you have carbon build up.

What do you mean by "but more maintenance? I feel like buying a SC, but it will be my first engine related mod and need to know about everything for it.

 

This model is no longer available new. You might be able to still get it on eBay.

New model comes with a gauge with built in boost gauge.

You will no need a combination gauge from innovate (AFR and Boost) just an AFR.

Just install the supercharger and a new fuel filter and you should will be fine at 6000 feet.
If you run a stock pulley you don’t need the methonal kit at 6000 feet.

If you go for the smaller pulley you will need an AFR Gauge and methonal or 7th injection.

Maintenance is you have to fill the windshield tank with boost juice for the kit as this is where
You probably will put the methonal. It essentially is windshield fluid that is 50/50 instead of 30/70.
Windshield fluid that is 20 below is 30/70 BUT is not distilled water.

Boost juice is distilled water with methonal.

So depending on what size nozzle you need 2 or 3 or 4, will determine how much fluid is used.

The nozzle size will let more methonal if you need the your AFR richer. Larger nozzel richer, smaller nozzel leaner.

The nozzels do tend to get plugged up even wth just boost juice.

So it’s a good idea to take the nozzle apart and clean with a soft brass wire brush every 15k miles to remove all mineral deposits or keep an eye
on your AFR Gauge. If the gauge shows the truck running a bit lean the
nozzle might need cleaning.
1) So maintenance is you need to keep an eye on the methonal system to make sure
everything is working correctly.
2) cleaning the nozzle
3) you have to add boost juice or windshield fluid or a mixture of both,
That will vary from a gallon 500 to 1500 depending on how you drive or the nozzle size.
I have a nozzel size 5 (larger because 2” pulley) and have a lead foot and add a gallon
every 500 miles. A number 2 nozzle probably for a 2.1 pulley will get you 1000-1500 miles a gallon or so.

I would consider the methonal kit only when u decide to get a small pulley.

My setup needs methonal at above 4 pounds of boost so if I ran my truck below
4 pounds of boost I would not actually use any methonal.
So if your Boost is topping out at 6 you still would use very little methonal.
I top out at 10 pounds so it’s spring all the time.

Thanks man. I got the same gauge you have so you can show me what it does. and I got the same methanol kit you have. It's proven on your truck so why get something else. The suspension is this... I have OME 885 coils that provide 1 to 1.5 inches of lift by themselves in the front. They are on Billstein 5100s set to 0. the coil is soft and the shock is firm. The combo is called the Frankenstein combo with the pairing of two different brands for one of the best rides out there for daily driving. The back has a 1" block to fit the rear 5100. I added the SPC upper control arms as the rubber on my old ones were toast and I didn't just want to replace the rubber. Drives right. It drives like a brand new truck.

 

Off subject but we talked briefly about brakes.
If you get stainless lines front and back and flush the system you will get a nice return.
I did this, got my lines from here and helped a lot.
My truck stops pretty dam fast and can lock up the wheels easily.
