heating the back for camping

i've got a cap on my 2000 and plan on camping in it this fall/winter. any suggestions for heating the back of the truck?

 

I've never camped in the back before but you could use a portable ceramic heater that you can get from Cabella's or any other outdoor outfitter. Just check their website I'm sure they will have something that will fit what you need. Oh and get a good sleeping bag and you won't need much for a heater!

 

12v space heater is the best I can come up with. The bed isn't insulated so it'll be kind of tough to hold heat in the winter.

just get a good foamy/matress and a good sleeping bag and you'll be fine

 

Or, if it's not too cold outside, those propane lanterns give off quite a bit of heat. You need to be careful where you leave it though. I use mine in a tent for 10 - 20 minutes and it gets the moisture out of the air and warms it up before passing out for the night. Not a great option if it's your only source of heat but I use it for light and the heat is just a welcomed byproduct.

 

You can get a propane heater with a low O2 shut off, I would also invest in a Carbon Monoxide alarm for some extra peace of mind, o/w you may never wake up.

 

Personally I think you should invest in a couple strippers. Always keeps me warm

 

I'de get a sleeping bag for two and take a HOT women with me to keep warm! Oh yeah forgot to cook and clean up.

 

Stuff a few of these into your sleeping bag.

i'd go in this order:

woman, good sleeping bag, and a matress to sleep on

i see you're in colorado, high elevation? it will get cold, but a quality sleeping bag can be rated as long as -20+ C

Now you tell me about the woman after I froze my butt off at Bike Week, Daytona Beach in the back of my Taco with topper.

 

not too bad. down to zero is usually the coldest it gets. i'm at 5100 ft on the front range. where i'll be camping is anywhere from 5100 to 9,000. i've got a -20 bag so i'm covered there.

 

get a fat women to sleep on. Dont need a mattress, she soft enough. Warm blubber.

 

I've never used one, so I can't say how hot it gets, but it's nice and portable.

But to be honest, camping in an enclosed canopy over a solid steel bed in any environment is luxury camping in my book. I'm used to backpacking miles out in the wilderness below freezing in a tiny tent and everything I need for the weekend on my back.

Get a nice down sleeping bag, and you'll be good for the night.

 

now that looks like a good idea....even if it doesn't make the canopy warm, even any heat will still make it better

and ya, sleeping in the bed will/could be luxury compared to a little tent (although it probably would be warmer in the tent with less 'air' to have to heat

recommend for a good sleeping bag that is made for 0 degrees and under. NEVER use a propane in a closed or small no open room or tent. you will not be waking up.

 

That looks nice but it will run your battery down.

Something else to think about.
