Calling King Owners: Is shock polishing a thing?

I mean, I clean them off once in a while.



I don't think that I have many pictures of just my shocks aside from initially installing them.

 

Truth. But at the core of this thread is an honest question based on a common observation. What’s up with those sparking clean Kings?

And yes, I am jealous.

 

On a serious note, took my king shocks to get service at a local shock shop here in SoCal and they put the shocks in a tank, clean everything out and tune.

Does a polished shock and strong forearms go hand and hand?

 

I can't help but notice how much longer my shock is than the rest of yours...

 

These are my 2nd pair of king shocks. Got these custom colored at Kings. Didn’t want to worry about polishing the shock.

On the motorcycle it helps to save the seals.

 

I would be embarrassed to be seen in a Tacoma with polished shocks.

 

When the Kings need to be rebuilt I'm probably going to get some new shocks/coilovers without reservoirs. After seeing enough other people break equipment when going fast I would rather just keep it slow.

Why not just rebuild what you have and not go fast? Seems like a waste of money and effort and the extra capacity only helps. Can't say having resi's ever made my foot heavier.

 

Rebuild your own. Still go fast.

 

I told my Dad he needed a bigger motor on his pontoon boat. Dad asked "why?" I said " to get there faster." Dad looked at me, smiled that smile, "Son I am on the lake, I am already there..."

A big fan of the stock black Toyota shocks? Or do you like them rusty?

 

I could sell them to a driver who would more fully use them to their potential and I just really don't need the reservoirs.
