What are the absolute "must haves" that you ordered your GFC with...in other words, what add-ons did you opt for from the factory (that you did not do/want to do after purchasing)

Side door! If they would let me have one on each side I would have done that. Better air movement, better views. 1000% worth it.

I find the roof very annoying and not clever. Blackout curtains were invented for a reason. Then again, I've been living out of it for 4 months, so if you're camping every so often, then I can see why it won't be an issue. However, if you live far north or plan on traveling extensively where the sun doesn't exactly set, you will want to make that roof not translucent.

Cover the roof with solar panels or simply paint the inside surface of the roof. If you paint the inside you won't have to deal with wear and tear on the paint and another maintenance issue.

With living out of it it is hard to paint and I might sell the camper at some point (although as of last night I moved into a rental in Haines for the winter). I also have a panel and a fan. However that paint idea is actually a great idea.

Maybe cover the inside with a dark adhesive vinyl. Wont take as long for the smell to go away.

    It's DLX son!
The roof doesn't bother me as is, but if it was an issue I would get a few rolls of black vinyl and just cover the inside. Much less messy and easy to undo if someone wants to take it off.

Yeah was going to do that. Cutting around the fan was going to get complicated and finding exactly what I needed on the road or middle of nowhere Canada was not an easy task. Again i might be selling the thing at some point so not trying to change the camper. Just giving my feedback on that roof

Living out of the GFC for 4 months should be easy compared to the dump you just moved into.
When winter hits hard up yonder at the cabin, snare and skin a black bear and use pine sap to adhere it to the inside roof.
    Thank me later. Yeeet!

How about they just offer a non translucent roof? o_O

I suggested this as an option on their Instagram when they asked and they shut down that idea right quick though lol

Translucent roof is kinda there thing... i liked it, worked ok, my Khaya completely blacks out which i tend to like a little better. There’s a guy on IG with an FJ Cruiser and a GFC tent with the top covered in camo vinyl to black it out. PM’ed with him when he did it he likes it better. Either way having someone (or doing it yourself) vinyl the roof wouldn’t be tough or expensive.

I agree and I realize that it is their "thing" that they enjoy...it is just slightly frustrating that they don't include it as an option when many individuals on this forum have voiced their concern. Seems like it would an easy an option....Either way, the cost and weight make GFC the best option for me. If I had another $2K though...

Yes, it wasn't the most professional and made me a bit upset at the time but hopefully they listen those on the forums.

Could you just paint the roof with some kind of rv roof coating?

I went the fluid film route and drained the tubes one bolt at a time, lightly sprayed the inside of the locks as well as I was experiencing corrosion there as well. It's been about 2 months but that seems to have worked.
