I see they did manage to locate it at least. Wonder why it was only going (what?) 200mph getting there? 7 weeks to the moon?

I’ve shaken hands with two Apollo moon walkers.

Low powered spacecraft don't do a straight lunar insertion burn, instead relying on repeated burns at perigee to raise maximum altitude until lunar capture.

    Do tell?

The closest I’ve come to a moonwalker is an Alan Bean print w an original signature.

I missed the opportunity to meet John Young at one of those Spacefest events years ago...Never let the little things get in the way of what’s really important to you.

My dad did some work for Nasa and I was fortunate enough to meet James Irwin through him.
The other moon walker I met at a private function...nothing mysterious, but I respect the process.
I also met Al Worden (commander) at the Kennedy Space Center...which makes three Apollo guys. No wonder I put KC Apollo's on my truck!

I've met Scott Carpenter (whom I was named after) at Kennedy Space Center about 15 year ago, and Gene Cernan at the Regan Library about 10 years ago.

Back in July, at KSC, I was about 20 feet from Mike Collins, but he wasn't shaking hands and signing autographs.

Joe Rogan has a couple of recent podcasts that may be of interest to folks in here.

He had Neil deGrasse Tyson on a couple of weeks ago for a more pop-culture discussion about some cool stuff about the universe.

A couple of days ago, he had on Sean Carroll for a more mature, deeper discussion about quantum mechanics. I'm about where Joe is on understanding this stuff - a very interested layman. A fair bit of what Carroll explains is difficult to digest (I listened to the last JRE he was on a couple of times), but he does make a lot of it plenty approachable.

He has a new book out - Something Deeply Hidden - that I think I'll have to pick up.

I like Neil deGrasse Tyson's episodes because he does a really great job at trying to make it relatively simple to understand. He also has a good sense of how to engage an audience, which is why I think he has gained a lot of popularity. Not just a dweeb in taped glasses and a pocket protector droning on about "science"

Agreed. He is one of the more charismatic ambassadors of the cosmos. He also does a good job of creating accessible examples and analogies.

Sean Carroll is pretty good at it, too, but he tackles concepts that are certainly more complex than the ones NdGT tends to.

Both episodes were very good listens.
