Option #2 replacing the existing knee replacement is only if the prosthesis is damaged from abnormal wear or from your own bodies immune system attacking it destroying the components . Again the Xrays and CT scans show the prosthesis to be in good condition but that can be totally different when they open my knee up . Also there's a much greater chance of a major infection to the surrounding tissue and bones were it attaches to

All knee replacements have shims to adjust preload and for alignment that hasn't changed on how they're mfgd

Back to infection risks , five years ago during my initial knee replacement surgery I developed a very bad infection in the knee just a couple days after surgery . Luckily it was caught quick with IV antibiotics and was better a few days later

Most surgeons including mine will say there's a much greater risk of a severe infection in the joint capsule and more of a threat to your bone marrow were the prosthesis is screwed into . The more times a joint replacement is replaced the higher the threat of major infection risk


Currently my ROM is ...... extension 15deg and flexion 89deg and walking is quite painful as there's alot of instability . These measurements were taken yesterday during my Pre Op
