1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

I didn't realize how much paper gets wasted at any given corporate office until I got my current job...especially since we deal with a lot of images on my side. I'll have to print out a book of 300 pages of garments to show and the person I present it to will be like 'I thought I wanted them at 60% scale but lets do it again at 61% , and then I get to throw 300 pages of freshly printed paper in the trash. Makes me feel like an asshole lol.

 

I love how Ill be scrolling through the cars or auto parts section of FB marketplace, then some ad for used skimpy womens underwear is in there out of the blue. Me thinks FB needs to sort their for sale ads a bit better.

 

So you have to fill out paperwork... to reduce paperwork?

 

They're just using your search browser history to target you toward ads that they figure you might like haha

I dont look at that kinda crap on my phone anymore. And I have all the google ad services/matching stuff turned off anyways. Tinfoil hat and all.

 

I left my phone next to my laptop as I was playing a Spanish song. Next thing I know I’m getting Hulu ads in Spanish.

I try and be aware of my privacy settings but it's like fighting a losing battle. There are so many breaches of privacy embedded into the apps we use that you can't really get around it. I don't mean like games and stuff, I mean like even in Google Maps or the Gmail app, stuff like that.

Not to mention all the other crap we probably have no clue about and never will (puts on my own tinfoil hat)

 

I used to get ads for bail bonds, tattoos and sperm donation all the time until I got married. I swear if you're a 30+ year old dude and single on Facebook you get the most depressing ads

It's funny how almost right away the ads switch to home loans, retirement planning, kids college funds, etc. after that

I still get the odd bail bonds ad though which is kind of weird

 

Why don’t you have Adblock? I only see ads on Hulu now. I haven’t seen a normal ad in years.

I can log into my buds wifi at his apartment, talk about where were going for dinner, and his alexa will hear it and somehow get ads for it on my phone. Despite me having all the stuff turned off on my phone that I do.

There are a few craters around the Grate Lakes, but none are the right age for the dino extinction.
