Pushing that switch the first time and seeing those lights come on is worth missing a bit of football imho. There's always more football.......

    Father-in-laws 18 Tacoma SR 4cyl 4x2

He wants the off-road grill and alloy wheels for exterior upgrades
Interior wise the key fob and intermittent wipers

I’ll be doing all the upgrades when I’m around, but he’s 2+ hours away

Intermittent wiper switch installed :) This was the biggest thing I wanted on the SR5+ trucks that my SR didn’t have; very glad it was a $100 part and 10 minute fix.

It’s not about the switch, it’s whether or not there is a wire for the lights in the body control harness at Pin 26. Pre-wired trucks can either pull the steering wheel to install the OEM switch or use a dash mounted switch to ground pin 26 (which is what I did) and therefore not have to run any wires through the firewall. Non-wired trucks have to add the wire using a repair terminal or run new wires to power and control the lights with a separate wire harness like traditional aftermarket lights.

@VR812 its still useful to check if you’re pre-wired or not. It’s really easy to pull the steering wheel cover honestly, takes two screws and a little bit of time. Or you can just drop the lower dash panel and look at the body wiring harness. My guess is you probably are unless you have the utility version.

eBay, used part for $90 shipped. There were cheaper used ones but they wouldn’t ship to AK.

I’m surprised how quickly I went from wanting to do the intermittent wiper mod, to enjoying not having it.

Sometimes the more options I have the harder it is to pick and stick with one. I like that “off/on/all-out” is simple, which represents the SR rather well.

That’s an interesting thought. I can appreciate the simplicity.

But for me every time the wiper goes across the windshield unnecessarily it makes me cringe. I’d rather leave them off completely and put my trust in Rain-X. That’s not always an option so...
