I have a flex fuel Tundra, and I haven't had any issues in 120k miles. I'm not picky about what gas goes in it either. Whatever's cheapest lol.

I've yet to see a supercharger kit that'll go on a flex fuel truck at all. I know it's possible, but all of the kits I've seen specify that they don't work on flex trucks.

Do you have the 38 gallon tank? How many miles (range) out of a full tank do you get?

BTW for any interested in a SC for flex fuel I spoke with a company who installs them and is a dealer for Magnuson, they said that they were coming out with a new tune in the next couple of months for the flex fuel ones.

Hell no I don't. Wouldn't THAT be nice. I have the 24 gallon tank (or 22...Whatever lol). Once in a blue moon I hit 300 miles on a single tank. But that's going 60 mph on flat ground for the entire tank lol

I was pissed when I found out that the newer ones had a 38 gallon tank as an option LOLOLOL

Flex fuel *should* require more than a tune. The fuel system is different. Injectors, pump, etc, are all different from non-flex setups. That's what I read anyway. And just in passing...I never planned on supercharging this truck, it's plenty fast for a daily. I have a fast-ish car for when I want to satisfy that bug.

I would say pay off the Tacoma then get a full size for the family. Depending on how many years you have left to pay

Its funny how perspective can really change things. Im 6ft and 300lbs and feel super comfortable in my tacoma. I dont tow so I dont have that problem, but holding 80mph on the highway is my struggle.

    Haha
So what do you normally get per tank?

Yeah, I don't remember all the details of what the guy said about some new things concerning the SC, but the tuning was one of them..

Correct, as long as it is installed at a Toyota certified shop (or Toyota dealer).

I had the same problem. Driving 80mph with a 15mph headwind in the 3rd gen Tacoma and I got like 13mpg. Made me wish I went with a tundra, as I drive a lot of highway miles.

Just made the switch this week. Went from a 17 tacoma sport 4x4 to a 15 tundra 1794. I loved my tacoma but my needs changed and had to have more towing capacity. So far I like the tundra as much if not more than the tacoma, its unbelievable how much room there is inside this thing.20190219_104744.jpg 20190912_153629.jpg

Mine has the 38 gal tank, but usable fuel is only about 32 gallons. So if you're getting 14 mpg you can go about 450 miles on a tank.

As far as getting used to the size, I've had mine a month and still find it to be a PITA to drive in town and park. It's way nicer on the highway tho.

What do you mean by "usable fuel"?

Fuel light comes on. On Tundras.com there are reports that the fuel pump would starve if parked on an incline if you let it get much lower.

Did you ever decide what you are going to do, OP?

I’ve been waffling on this very decision for over a year. I go back and forth almost daily on how best to upgrade from my regular cab Taco. I go back and forth on whether to keep my Taco AND get a new truck. I keep flip-flopping everything.

I love the looks of the 3rd Gen Tacoma’s, and I love the space of the Tundras. And I don’t want to wait until the Tundra redesign, because they might get rid of the 5.7l and it’s transmission in favor of something “greener”. So much to consider.

Lately, I’m inclining towards the Tundra camp. Like the weather here in Texas that’s subject to change five minutes from now.

I did two weeks ago. Don't regret it at all. Tundra is getting the same gas mileage and I finally can gain speed when going uphill.

Tundra convert as of last week. I've got nothing bad to say, hell even the stock stereo in the tundra sounds better.
