I was cleaning the adhesive off from removing the TRD Off Road decals/ emblems and gave the white on the 4x4 mud flap a little whip and it came off very easy. Took about 30 seconds per side- just keep turning the rag so your not just smearing the white. And find gloves that hold up to lacquer thinners- mine didn't...

Didn't feel the need to tell everyone it was a 4x4 and was afraid I was making 2wd trucks jealous;)

Actually I kind of like the white 4x4. But I like white letters out to.

Same colour truck as mine, although mine is Access cab. Removed the emblems from the doors and tail gate the other day and removed the TRD Off Road decals today as well as the 4x4 on the mud flaps. Next is finding a single row black light bar to replace the Toyota in my Pro grill and then new center cap stickers for my 3rd gen Off Road wheels and lastly I am going to replace the emblem on the steering wheel.

If I were embarrassed driving a Toyota Taco, I wouldn't remove the emblems & decals, I'd trade for something I wouldn't be embarrassed with. But I'm proud of my Toyota Taco, so the emblems & decals will stay !!

If they still built quality/ reliable drive around the world trucks I would be proud too- but that simply is not the case (vibrations, frames, transmissions, etc.).
Had my CPO Tacoma back to the dealership 8 times over the first 6 months we owned it and the Toyota dealer was not able to fix a Toyota. Toyota Motor co. would not get involved and told me to take it up with the dealer. Dealer flat out refused to fix it and then refused to let me return the truck.

So now I have to pay to get a custom driveshaft made, replace the weak rear leaf springs with ones that don't wrap so bad and install degree shims between the rear end and the leaves. Oh yeah and Timbren load helpers so the truck can actually be used as a truck.

It's Toyota Motor Company that should be embarrassed. Embarrassed that they some how forgot how to build quality trucks.

I see you have a '91, how many miles? My 2012 only has ~50K miles- pampered miles- never off road and hardly worked. My Dad's 2000 Dakota drives better and it has 180K miles!

So why don't I just trade it? Because I know I will like the truck once those items are fixed and it would cost the same amount of money to switch trucks as it will cost for the repairs (I hope). Karen won't drive a full size truck and I am a woodworker so it's nice to have a truck for truck things. Also it does better in crash rating then other mid sized trucks.

I might see if I can get someone to 3D print letters to replace the 'TOYOTA' in the pro grill with 'TINFOIL'- More than likely a light bar- but it's still an option.

Sorry, I's just pokin' fun. If I'd known what you'd been, & goin', thru, I'd have kept my pokin' to myself. Good luck. Just a thought, a true story. Back in the 60's a local guy bought a new dodge car at a local dealer. It turned out to be a real lemon, & like yours, the dealer couldn't get it taken care of. He took it to a local body shop & had lemons painted all over it, He said if he had to drive a lemon, he wanted everybody to know he was driving one.

No worries- poke fun all you want- gives me a reason to rant!:bananadance: The other half wouldn't go for the lemons (it has been suggested). Actually she said I could but she wouldn't drive it.

People who like white letters out on their tires are of the old school breed.

I like my white letters out as well. :)

Bought a car one time and it had new tires- but they were the small white wall/ stripe- took a can of black spray paint with the wheel spinning and it was all gone!

Well that's one way of making white disappear!

I like white lettering, not necessarily white walls, unless it is on a very specific type of small car. Of the old school variety as well usually. Lol.

Yep, Should be a nice set of aluminum or chrome wheel, with white letters facing out. Gosh those black wheels make a nice truck look cheeeep & trashy, just like they did 50 yrs. ago. That's my opinion & it ought to be yours!!! Bein's as I'm preaching opinions, I like the white 4X4 on the mud flaps too.

I agree. I like the 4x4 lettering on the flaps and going all black on a truck does make it look trashy.:anonymous:

It really does. Like whoever owns this black truck and keeps parking in my driveway. I taught him a lesson by throwing some colors on his truck. That'll teach him for parking in my garage.
