I like them but off-road I do rub a bit at times although it looks like it’s just on the plastic and not the cab mount

So I’m confused...are people running 285/70 17’s on stock suspension? I know 265/70 17’s are the general consensus on this thread, but are people getting away with 285’s with little to no rubbing?

Dont think so. You will rub on UCAs.

mine is with a 3 inch lift with new UCAs. I assume you would be rubbing with stock, but I put mine on after suspension so I wouldn’t know for sure.

I know this may be a dumb question, but I’m a newbie to all this fancy technology B.S. (my last truck was an ‘02):

Are you guys buying all new tire pressure sensors for the new wheels, or are you simply reusing the sensors from the factory wheels?

    How’s that process generally work?

Most definitely need a lift to run 285’s. I’m currently on a 3” spacer lift and 1” block in the rear. No cutting yet, just mudflaps removed and castor pushed out. Eventually I’ll be going coilovers and possibly wheel spacers for a little wider stance, then a cab mount chop will be in order.

Tried to read through the better part off the 99 pages of this thread. Seems to be the 265/70 17 seem to be the perfect fit for those that are not putting lift kits on. Wondering if anyone has tried 275/70 17's without a lift kit and if so any rubbing issues?

I have 265/70/17s on my 2017 TRD OFF and it rubs. On any sharp tuns, i.e. up the drive way with a curb, off road, sharp turn, any slight bump, you will rub on the flaps. I can't see how a 275 wouldn't rub.

Funny I read info on this very site that they would be fine, one guy out of dozens said he had rub. He was right, all the rest were well, whatever. I'm here to tell you, it will rub leaving everything stock.

Your alignment is likely different than most here. I have 265/70/17, and off-road on off-camber trails, stuff the wheels, and pull into driveways in reverse at full lock, and never rub one iota. Not even close to rubbing. I think it is you who is the outlier with this size.

Well let me be the outlier. I'm just telling you I have rubbing and I use my truck more than most.

Hold on. Are you still in your 2nd Gen? That might be the difference.

Oh man that sucks that yours are rubbing. Well that answers my question on 275's.

Ko2's, TRD pro wheels, pro grill
So just put 265/70 17's ko2's on 4runner Trd pro wheels and removed the mud flaps. Guess what it rubs turning into my driveway. I cringed, believed the threads and now slightly bummed. I planned on putting 5100's for a small lift but didn't plan on having to do it this quick.
