@TheToyotaGarage, you have these tires on the OME BP 51?

I ordered the OME BP-51 lift kit from Headstrong Offroad with the SPC adjustable UCA’s, the HD Dakar leaf pack and just had it installed on my 2017 SR5 4x4 today.

Also, installed a set of 285 70R 17 BFG KO2 AT’s and had those mounted on my existing 17x8 Ultra Maverick rims. Installer was concerned the tire wouldn't clear the UCA’s but I was confident they would based on the information I got here. Which proved correct and the BFG 285’s filled my wheel wells up nicely, with no cab or UCA rubbing issues.

Decided on a full performance lift after much research here on TW. I prefer the nose down stance which the OME lifts are known for and for adding aftermarket weight up front. I haven't made any comp or rebound adjustments yet, everything was installed as received from Headstrong. I’ll look at making any adjustments after all the weight is added.

Neglected to get any measurements before I started the mod and just added all the weight to the truck before the kit was installed. Its got a bit of a rake which was what I wanted with no gear, no people, or supplies loaded. When I haul my boat, my buddies and some beer I expect it will level out some.

For aftermarket weight I have added the N-Fab rock rails w/removable steps, a full steel skid plate pkg incl fuel tank skid from RCI at 145lbs, SSO Hybrid with Smittybilt X2O 10k winch at 125lbs, steel Fab Fours Rear bumper at 115lbs, Decked sys for a DCSB at 185lbs and a Thule TracOne ladder rack at 45lbs.

Not sure what the net gain was from all the lighter weight OEM parts that were removed and addition of the new equipment and tires but the front coil overs alone must be in the plus 90lbs range not counting the HD leaf pack. Figure I’ve added about 640 lbs of aftermarket weight once the SSO bumper and winch are installed.

The BFG AT’s are pretty quite on road which was a surprise, I expected more. My initial impression was a giddy laugh as I felt the improved handling. Its a bit stiffer but not overly so. I live in the mountains on a beat up dirt road and all my rigs are 4x4’s or I’d be walking a mile up hill in the wintertime. Handled the washboard up my hill very well right out of the box and I hope to dial it in this hunting season even more.

Got to be one of the best looking lifts out there, the color and finish look outstanding against my silver tacoma. This lift and tires represent the biggest mod to my truck so far. Looking at adding the ARB rear air locker shortly which will be the last big mod, if there is such a thing!

Some other mods I’ve accomplished are, a tailgate pop and lock, a TRD PRO style black grille with smoked out marker lights, Optima Red Top battery and plan on the mod to enable a 285 full sized matched spare to be held in the stock storage spot. Love this suspension lift upgrade so far and I can’t wait to get it out in the woods this hunting season.

Also, wanted to send a huge shout out to all the contributors to this thread and all the other threads I’ve used to research the mods for my truck.

    You all Rock!!

    Happy Trails!!

I set mine to 10mm this past weekend and it rides much more comfortably. I planned on adding a C4 Fabrication bumper, but that hasn't happened, so currently with no weight up front the 10mm is the way to go.

You know I've had this in the garage for a couple weeks not realizing they actually come at 5mm set not 20mm. Im installing tomorrow and deciding to look at the coil overs after reading the instructions again to only realize the height differs that what I have heard and the instructions say. I am really hoping these will not be too low with my weight and cause rubbing or sag. In the front I have 285/70/17 tires, aluminium front full coverage cbi bumper, cbi full skids, warn 10k synthetic winch, prinsu cabrac, and sliders that weigh about 90lbs a piece. I also have a C4 high clearance rear bumper, ARE shell, plus a spare. I'm running the HD leafs so I know the rear will good if not a bit stiffer. I wasn't planning on adjusting based on reading they came at 20mm and that I am fully loaded but now I'm thinking I need to, except I don't have the tool. I guess well see tomorrow or the day after if anything is different. I'm a bit torn on either running them how they came or finding a tool to adjust.

Same thing happened to me, didn't realize it until after I had them installed. Running 285/70/17’s, full steel RCI skid package plus the fuel tank skid, Nfab rock rails, Decked storage and Fab Fours Premium rear bumper. Adding the SSO Hybrid w/Smittybilt X2O and full sized matched spare as soon as they arrive.
So far, experiencing no rubbing issues but after the bumper/winch are installed may be a different story. Plan to have bumper/winch installed by the shop that did the suspension and make any adjustments at that time. I did expect the OME lift to have the slight rake front to rear that I prefer.

    So a little update here:

I’ve had a chance to put my new BP-51 lift and 285 tires to the test off road during the first opening week of hunting season and I’m impressed with the difference in my trucks handling off road.

Sippi-holes, rocks, ruts, out sloped washouts, tight 3 point turn arounds, potholes, washboard, broken chip seal, no worries! The BP-51 lift took the big hits from those sneaky potholes hiding in the shade with ease. I would grip tight and hold my breath as I was about to hit a pothole, passengers would gasp and reach for grab bars and then say, hey that wasn’t to bad, wow! Handled the washboards at speed very well and overall the truck was just “smooth” as a back seat passenger noted.

I did experience a bit of rubbing when I was doing slow maneuvering under compression, forward and backward, with the wheel over one direction or the other. Didn’t have any rubbing during tight maneuvers on the flats.

Having a SSO hybrid w/X2O winch delivered soon so plan to have the height adjusted to 15mm from the current factory 5mm setting when that gets installed and see how that works out. I’m lightly rubbing the mud guards so I’m not too concerned about it as this only occurs when I am off road doing slow full turn maneuvers while the shock is under compression.

Other than that, I’m really liking this setup!
