It’s neat to have pictures and a shed from a buck that you harvest.

My buddy and I just got home from a 3 hour road trip to some friends property. We put up 3 set-ups and worked on a few others that were left up last year.

A guy I work with has a really small property about an hour away. Anyhow, he's been getting lots of daytime pics of a giant nontypical. So Sunday was opening day in Missouri, out he goes in the 95 degree heat and shoots it. Next time I see him I will have him send me pics. I don't have his number yet. They rough scored it at close to 180".

I put a ground blind up today, for those rainy days. I also found another dead deer, a doe this time.D2CAA39B-D3EC-4AB5-BBFA-16790FD67E8F.jpg1497CEFD-7787-4E96-8695-78F27184E24F.jpg

Late to the party, just now finding this thread. In Oklahoma and our bow season starts October 1st and runs until January 15th. Definitely getting the fever. Always chasing the different seasons here though.

Deer, turkey and upland bird in the fall/winter (I don't duck hunt since it's during prime deer season)
Turkey, predator and spoonbill in the spring
Noodling and general fishing in the summer

Then get to do it all over again. I absolutely love the outdoors, but hunting deer is definitely one of my favorites. It's wild the feeling I still get today when I take a deer with my bow. I rifle hunt (muzzle loader and centerfire) but nothing compares to taking a deer 40-50 yards and in with an arrow. Plus I enjoy putting fresh harvested meat on the table for my family. Knowing it was in my possession from the time I saw it in the wild, until it's on the dinner table. Matter of fact, I just had deer fajitas for lunch trying to clear out the rest of my freezer in preparation of this new season. Glad to see other like minded individuals enjoying this pastime.

Sounds like a good way to get more people into hunting. though alot of public land close to me is crowded already. More people hunting are what we need!
I know 5 people that were anti that now eat venison and other wild game. Three of them hunt now too. There is alot of people against industrial farming.

Wild. I won’t go into the woods early season without mine. As long as it is lit, it works great. Problem is, the pilot light likes to go out on its own for no reason. I know when it does, because the mosquitoes come in immediately.

Leased hunting land typically goes for $10-15 an acre here per year. We got extremely lucky on our place and $1500/year total for 500 acres. It’s just me and my brother on the place. He’s an older guy that’s usually gone at cattle auctions. Only bad thing about the place is, there are cows on it. I’ve learned to hate cows over the years.
