I'll be surprised if gun cases weren't banned from being shipped to CA.

I was just around the corner from San Onofre State Beach; I could walk to it from my place.

That and the weather was never too hot, too cold, and never too far from any major city.

Favorite place outside the US, even though you didn't ask? Frankfurt Germany.

You should’ve seen my musical floppy drive array project I brought to school with me a few years back. I mounted it all in a Rifle case.

They freaked out a little when I mentioned I was bringing a gun case there. I had to get it inspected and approved by the dean, and the head of security.

It’s funny. On the outside it looked like a rifle case, when you opened it up it looked like a bomb.

Two Arduinos. An Arduino Duemilanove, and an Arduino Uno. Each Arduino controlled eight floppy drives, two inputs per drive. One for step, and one for movement. Each floppy drive was responsible for one channel of 16 on the MIDI musical scale. As the stepper motor moved, the Arduino determined at what frequency the stepper motor should move at thus producing a distinct audible note. This is how modern player pianos work, with MIDI files.

I adapted the code in the Netbeans IDE with C++ to convert MIDI files to control the floppy drives via the Arduinos.

    Here's a good example:

Its funny, as much as I like PLC's and what they do/ the concepts behind them, Ive never played with an arduino. I wouldnt know the first thing about them if someone asked me to use one.

I feel the same way about PLC's. I didn't even know what they were till you brought it up.

Think of it as an industrial arduino i guess. Its also what people use to control Christmas lights to music.

Oh yeah, I've heard of PLC then. I had tons of those houses in my neighborhood that played music in tune with a radio station. There was a lawn sign that said "Tune into 96.5" for example
