Hey all, haven't been on here in forever, but wanted to throw this up here before i went to Craigslist. I have a hitchgate solo high clearance with plate mount that I don't plan on using any more. If anyone's interested message me for more details. Thanks!

That’s about where my head’s at. I really want one in the diesel flavor this time thouch, just have to find one that fits the budget.
Aches suck. I think I tore something in my shoulder and have to go see a doctor about it. I jarred it against the door during the impact. Back and hips seem ok. I was really sore over the weekend but everything went away except the shoulder.

I came from a 96 Cummins to my 13 Tacoma. Honestly, I wouldn't get a newer oil burner. If you could find a low mileage 12v P-pumped Cummins with a 5 speed (aka holy grail) then obviously that would be it. New ones with the added controls, no thanks. Now I haven't been running in the #2 fuel crowd for quite a while but back then the Fords and Chevys didn't get great mileage. Cummins did but they were 5.9L straight 6s. Mine ran in the low 20s on the highway dropping 1000ft-lbs better than the Tacoma. For a full size, I'd just go with a gasser. My $0.02

But almost 4 digit torque numbers! The new ones at least come with a 100k mile power train warranty. I do go back and forth about getting one. Something about effortless towing and just gobs of power is drawing me in, just can’t help myself

Too bad you weren't looking for one last year, my father sold his mint '03 Tundra!
Actually, it wasn't perfect, since my uncle bought it, and the power steering rack started to leak badly immediately after he got it.

Yeah, you got me there. The torque is addictive. I towed with mine once, about 6K, from PA to CT out 84. That hill just in NY that's about a 2 mile climb? Left lane, 70 with plenty more but I was being safe. it honestly pulled that 6K+ like nothing was back there.

Which oil burner would you consider?

Down to 35 this morning. Moved most my plants in the last two days to keep them from dying off. Still watering grass though, can't wait to be done with that in another week or two.

@Pugga how long do you keep your trucks? I'm leery of new diesel, from what I can tell, all their long term benefits have been thrown out with the new clean diesel crap. If you want it for towing or whatever sure, but I don't think they make any sort of sense unless you are towing 10k or more around every week. Just my opinion though and I've never owned the newer ones.

You mention bad gas mileage on the 7.3, but when there is a 5-6k price difference in motors...well that's a lot of gas. My worry with it would be that the new engine would have some issues in its first year, not the gas. But who knows!

Howdy New Englanders. Where is the best place to sell my first gen? I am too new here to post an ad. So far craigslist has only netted me a sketchy low-baller. I am located in Maine.

Down to 34 and frost all over the grass! Never watered on top of frost before, but my landscape guy says keep watering until it gets cold durring days or we get some rain around here!

facebook marketplace seems to be the new craigslist, I don't have facebook, but my wife sold tons of my FIL's old farm stuff real fast on it.

I despise Facebook as well, but you seem to be correct. I had some stuff on craigslist for a week with no bites. Then I put it on Facebook marketplace, and I had 25 messages in the matter of an hour.

Anyone know someone around here who's welded mobtown sliders on a Third GEN by chance?

Honestly, I'm a little bit indifferent as to which brand I'd go with at this point when it comes strictly to the engines themselves. I think the big 3 all have good diesel engines right now and you can argue the pros and cons of the transmissions. The Allison is tough to beat, I know Dodge always takes crap about theirs but it'd do fine for my needs and Ford's in-house tranny is stout as well. I really like the Ford cabin, the driving position, seats, flat rear floor, the SYNC system (I know the others have similar systems). I'd likely try to find another Ford because I know and like it, and all my accessories will swap over.
I always say I'm going to keep this truck but always seem to get the itch around 100k miles to swap over (which usually takes me about 4-5 years). I kept the Tacoma longer but was taking the train so it took me 7 years to get to 100k miles.

Truth be told, I don't NEED a diesel for what I do with my truck. Hell, I don't even need a 3/4 ton truck, a properly equipped half ton would do fine. The reason I bought the 3/4 ton was I was going nuts trying to find a half ton with the heavy payload package, tow package and all the other stuff I needed to tow (mirrors, brake controller, etc). I was looking at spending an extra $5-6k over the base truck to add all that crap on, or just buy any 3/4 ton and it's part of the base package. Now that I've owned and towed with the 3/4 ton, I don't want to go back. My F150 was a competent tow vehicle, the F250 just toys with the trailer. Set the cruise control and go, it's stress-free towing. It'll all come down to what I get for mine from insurance. I'd be buying used so I wouldn't be fully realizing that $6k hit you get new. Also, on the turn in side, a diesel with 100k+ miles on it will hold it's value much better than a gasser so I think it sort of evens out in the end although they are more expensive to maintain... In short, I'm buying the truck I want, which is way overkill for what I actually need but #YOLO (did I do that right?)

1)buying used and turning in at that point I agree, deff takes away a lot of the hit.

    2) Buying the truck you want, is all that REALLY matters. I totally get going overboard on something just to be a little less stressed/ enjoy it without any worrying. DO IT!

    3) I am not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure you #YOLO'd correctly :fingerscrossed:

I put a Quadrafire pellet insert in a couple weeks ago and have been unsuccessfully trying to get the building inspector (who apparently works at least a half dozen towns) to come by to look at it and sign off on it.

I didn't really want to order pellets until I had confirmation all was good, but I'm about to just do it. I'm sick of waiting--especially with it being 35 this morning.

    To many, but never done
@mhoadley his brother welded on his sliders, not mobtown and on a second gen.
He's in CT not sure if it's worth it but the only one I can think of besides @tacobell007 and his hookups

I'm awfully tight around some rivits and a brake line mount. Just trying to figure out if I need to do some light massaging or just blast her in.
