I purchased a 3" F and a 2" R spacer kit. Does the top plate of the strut have to be removed to place the front spacer on? I was planning on doing the lift myself but seeing as I don't have a spring compressor I may have to have a shop do it.

I did a 3" front spacer on my ford and the spacer just went right on top of the strut. All the instructions I'm seeing have the top plate removed to install the spacer. Any idea?

It depends on the kit you got. Pictures or link?

Beware having all the spacer thickness above the top plate will cause the shock to bottom out during suspension uptravel before the bumpstops contact. If this happens, the shock will buckle: https://www.tundras.com/threads/bilstein-5100-breaking.42423/#post-1085342
You will have to take the shopping mall speed bumps slower than with a stock truck.

Yea. This is true. You’re putting a lot of unnecessary stress on your suspension. Being 2wd you really should be looking at spindle lifts.
