I know i posted a question earlier about buying the 08 Double Cab SR5 with a 6" lift and wheels and tires. Would I be better off buying new? and spending a little more but having warranty and being able to do what i want? I need to know because a deal is going down tonight!

some of this, a little of that
How much can you afford per month. Will you get a better interest rate with a new truck? Are you mechanically inclined, could you work on it yourself? If you buy used you could be buying someone elses headache, if you go with new you will know everything has been done to your standards.

id go for new if ya can swing it. used ya have no idea what your getting into.even the best looking truck could have been driven hard. however if ya have a reliable mechanic he or she could always look at it but id still go with new if ya can swing it

the good thing about the used one is i know the guy whose truck it is. he owns a truck shop where they lift and do all that stuff. and he is super i mean SUPER ANAL about is stuff. i have about $4-5k equity in my trade, so if i do go new my payments will be less than they are now. but then i will have to do a lift and wheels and tires and all that noise... i dont know what to do!?!

buy new, you now get 2 years free maintenance as well as what other people have mentioned. tacomas hold their value so well you can buy a new truck for fairly close to what a used one costs.

I was hoping to buy a used truck but every truck I looked at that was a year or two old was so close to new in price that I just bought new. Buying used makes a lot of sense if it's a clean truck.

painted door handles, bilstein 5100's front and back, K&N air filter. Precision power component speakers and Kenwood deck.

If your positive the truck is in good shape then buy used. As soon as you purchase the new truck and drive it off the lot you lost 5k. Someone else already took that hit for you on the used truck. I understand about the warranty thing but I just canceled my extended warranty because i felt it was a waste of money hearing and seeing these trucks go the distance with proper care.

The new truck will take a hit and then you will have to put another say 4-5k into it with lift, tires etc. So now your lookin at 9-10k. How much would you lose on the used truck that has everything you want?

A six inch lift? Is that what you want?

Basically, the cheapest way to get a lift is to buy a truck someone else already lifted.

But there are so many variations on lifts, ranging in price from a couple hundred bucks to a couple of thousand. So know what you're getting before you decide on the value of that truck.

It depends. Knowing that most lifts are just "mall crawlers" that don't hit the trail hard, there's a good possibility it hasn't seen hard use.

The flip side of that is that there's extreme variability in HOW people do their lifts. I'd rather have stock than some lifts.
