The wife preferred the Scion over the truck. Now she's an ex-wife.

Girlfriend thinks it's funny whenever i take the shortcut through a roundabout. Still dating that one.

I had an ‘02 Double Cab 4x4 the same color as yours. I put OME springs up front to level it, and went through several sets of all terrain tires. Never needed anything else except oil changes. But yes, my wife hated it. She said it rode like a stagecoach. I had that truck from 2002 to 2013 and 180K miles. If I could buy another one like it, I’d do it tomorrow.

Arkansas huh? I’m in Hot Springs.

Time to find a new wife.

Also, my wife doesn't hate my Tacoma, because I don't have one. Pro tip of the day for any inquiring minds. ;)

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Let me tell you a story...

In 2004 I decided my F150 Lightning was killing me on gas. I had also lifted a friends Tacoma and really liked his truck.

So... I stopped in to the local Toyota dealership on my way home from work one day. Well, let's just say my wife was not impressed when I arrived home, 3 hours late, with a Burgandy DC 2002 Prerunner Tacoma (Certified, Lease return, 66K miles)

She did not even get in my truck for 2 months. Wouldn't even look at it for 2 weeks.

But... she no longer hates it. We run that thing all over, camping, hunting, off roading. It's a bit different today. It's 4wd now, and at 305K miles it's definately a member of the family now and still running strong.

But let's just say that an unauthorized vehicle purchase was not exactly the way to get my wife to love the truck.

Now if that isn't an excuse to upgrade to a newer double cab then I don't know what is. Geez man, agree with her then let her pick out the color and get one with seat heaters. How I managed that is I bought her a newer car first then she told me that I needed a new one. (been in sales for 26 years, married for 17 years, she is my toughest customer)

My girlfriend just says my truck is too small and that it rides rough. But she doesn’t care all that much because it goes from a to b every single time with no issues.

Too bad there are a bunch of dudes with 2nd and 3rd gens posting here. I guess your wives figured that's the best they could get, eh? (you know you're in the 1st gen section, right?):devil:

So, my wife and I have been married for 16 years. while I've only owned my current 2004 Tacoma for 15 years, she knew from the very beginning when we were dating that if she forced me to choose between my "toys" or her, she'd loose. I mean, I've been in a "relationship" with my bikes longer than we've been together.

    With one exception:

My '86 Turbo 4Runner. She called it Christine. I loved that truck. She was special, no not that kind of special.

By this time, it had 300k miles on it, was on it's 2nd turbo, and the back seat smelled like cat pee, and had been broken into. Twice. It had seen some shit. Basically, it broke down at the most inopportune time; when she needed it to get to a job interview (she likes to forget HER car was broken down at the time too).

Turns out it was singing its death song (cracked block) but I thought I could string it along with a new radiator, head gasket, and a few other hopeless fixes I thought might give my baby a few more miles of life.

I talked about a 3.4L swap but she wanted Christine gone. As a way to I guess placate me, she said that if I got rid of it, she'd match whatever I sold it for aand use the money for a dirtbike (I'd been eyeing one ever since my bachelor party when my brother tried to kill me on one, lol).

So, the next day it was on craigslist, and by the weekend I had an almost brandt new dirtbike. I can't say I planned it like that, but it did seem to work in my favor, lol

Did that one SELL for that much!? I know that's what they were ASKING for it...

Who ever pays what I paid for mine (in 2005) for a 15 year old truck needs to be 5150'd.

apparently lifted on 35s with no sway bar and a big turbo makes my truck "scary" so the gf takes the corolla as the ride of choice

i went to a mudhole in northern Wisconsin this past weekend, i was the only 1st gen with 10 others that had 2nd & 3rd gens and a new t4r

my truck was very nice on the highway except for the constant 20-30 mph winds for almost 400 miles through the Dakotas
