Yeah I mean some places have stuff where an enduro ride would be nice but 95% of the time they aren’t needed. I am assuming most riding in Texas is similar to northern virginia with rolling hills and some rocks. Our local trail has some 2+ ft drops that I see why people would want one...but there are like 5 of those on a 13 mile trail. The rest of the time I’m having a blast on my stache. I can still hit the smaller drops and hit all of the jumps.

I ended up watching the entire "making of" video for this... Man, this dude is A. determined 2. tough as nails and III. totes cray cray! (unbelievably talented, but damn, he's earning those shots)

    https://youtu.be/a_TGosXdLTk
In case you want to waste 45 minutes.... LOL

Do it! Oh wait... simple instructions aren't really "my thing"... All the smart folks already said it, but I'll echo it, grab a trail bike and ride the shit out of it. Or... grab a big ol' enduro and ride the shit out of that! Whatever you do, sup on the price of the hardtail? Is that a 29 or 27.5? ...asking for a friend...

Might be time you get up with the locals at the watershed over in Frederick, MD. They got plenty of jumps, drops, and gaps there if you want to challenge yourself.

Haha I’m not a huge fan of big jumps/drops. I have been considering getting a cheap DH bike for bike parks but idk yet. I have heard the shed is pretty wild though. Been years since I’ve talked to anyone that has ridden there though

Since I am a fan of bike collecting...keep the hardtail, get an enduro bike too! I love my Bronson to death and treats me well on the whole enchilada, etc. But if your local trails aren't exactly known for their technical nature like mine, the hardtail is my go to and teaches you good habits that multiply on the big bike.

I bought my Stache end of June and the only time I have touched my FS bike since was riding the Crest with @abacall

Anyone have tips on cleaning rim beds of old sealant before replacing rim tape and tires? Just rubbing alcohol or something else work better?

Yea the shed is a great spot as it has all sorts of riding. Many go just for the cross country aspect, but of course there are the Dh and freeride runs along with the push trails that will make you really reactive and go with the flow.

It was amazing how much better of a rider it will make you due to the landscape, but linking up with someone is key. A lot of my xc/downhill buddies ride there year round especially when the bike parks start to close. I would recommend getting some pads and stuff if you ever want to hit the more aggressive stuff just due to the rocks out there.

Maybe weight or hype? This is actually the first time I have seen an xtr brake lever in like ten years!

Yeah I've only seen them on high-end XC builds. XT brakes (2 or 4 piston) are fantastic for half the price in my opinion
