Well not many more opportunities to go out.
Racing season winding down and hunting season coming up so will try to get something on the #8.
Had 3 broken lures so I said what the hell , I’ll make a plug for the hell of it and try it tomorrow.
Don’t care if it lasts. Just see if I can get ahold of something bigger than a sunfish or crappie lol
    Didn’t cost anything.

Just curious if you typically use 6x for a size 18 fly? Top water or sub surface?

    Nice looking fish!

That is pretty darn good. I had 13 fly rods and several years ago sold all but 4 on eBay.
Much more manageable and only miss my Sage Spey.

Funny...I had about that many as well and have sold a bunch on eBay this spring/summer. Down to 8.

Love it! That small stream stuff & exploring is probably what got most of us hooked on fishing in general. To this day, adventures like this bring me the most joy.

    Thanks for sharing.

I'll keep the small stream train rolling.

Super proud of the girlfriend for this one. She was finally able to figure out the art of getting a good drift and land her first trout on a nymph rig this past weekend. Pretty little GSMNP rainbow.

Nice fish! Is she using strike indicators or Euro Nymphing?

She was tight lining, so pretty much euro nymphing without the proper setup.

Yeah that’s a popular method around here with soft hackles. Let them swing through with tension on the line. I’m all about a method that works well for the person fishing and produces fish! Good for her!

My grandma made this for me back in the day. Super cool to still have it. I'm going to put a darker mat around it and get a new frame.

Woah...didn’t know there was a fly fishing thread! Glad I found this one. We have some great fly fishing down here in the SW, some beautiful places to wet a line up in northern NM. Getting ready tying up some streamers for the some big browns and Pike :D. My all- round rod is my Radian 906 believe it or not...even for the tiny stuff on the Juan. Absolutely love it.

For some reason these never gave me a notification. So, i apologize for the delayed response.

The water has been so clear and low lately, the smaller the tippet the better. I’ve been using 6 or 7x for the last couple months. Late in summer I’ll also usually throw a big chubby Chernobyl on top with something small under it (rainbow warrior or something of the sort). Those big grass hoppers are out late in the summer so the chubby is my absolute favorite fly.

    I’m not, why?

The past 2 (or 3) Septembers have been continuations of August (Hot & Dry) and Brook Trout fishing suffered. We're finally back to having a normal cool/cold September. Fishing is fantastic. I'm off next Wed-Fri and heading to northern Maine to fish ponds for the season closer.

Anyone using a Tenkara? Started using one this year and absolutely love it! I don't think the limited range has effected the number of fish I catch at all.
