The flip side of that is the extra tax you'll have to pay, though, not having a trade. :notsure:

I'd also recommend Facebook Marketplace. I had my 1st gen sold within a week and a half of posting.

True, but that should be part of the value they give me for the old truck. They should give me retail value of the truck plus 6% tax and then we arm wrestle over the accessories / add-ons.

I think it's insane to own a diesel truck unless you need one. They are too expensive to maintain. When something goes wrong it's MAJOR. It's almost like the difference in car parts to boat parts. You can buy a new starter motor for your late model import for $300. But try to buy a marine rated starter for a 15 year old boat and it's $1200. My buddy with his Cummins diesel had some sensor go out that was going to cost him multiple thousands of dollars to replace. FOR A FRIGGIN' SENSOR! He was able to get around it by purchasing some kind of chip tune that bypasses the sensor for like $900 and gives him 1000hp or something if he wants. This is like a 5 or 6 year old truck. But I would still stick with an HD if I were you. How can you go from towing with an HD to a half ton?

There is however that unreasonable internal voice that affects our thought process... I certainly don't need an HD truck to tow my toys but my next one probably will be one. But it won't be a diesel. I guess it all comes down to what you find out there. If insurance gives you enough will you be looking used or new?

My only regret is not having the appropriate bellbottoms.

As others have said, Craigslist, and the FB Marketplace is the new Craigslist. And then there's always everybody's favorite Uncle.

36 here this morning. No frost at the house, but the fields down on the flats were frosted.

So... the part I bolded is pretty much what's pushing me right now. The good thing is, they have the extended warranty on the diesels so I'm covered up to 100k miles and, at that time, I may trade it in and get something else. Just under 100k, they're still fairly high value and I'd never incur the multi-thousand dollar repairs.

Depending on what they give me, I'm very likely looking used, 2016 and newer. Definitely used if I go diesel. If I get a shred of responsibility, I may go look at a new half ton but I'd like to stick with 3/4 ton. It just makes much less fuss towing the trailer, it's hard to go back.

Yeah, only our open areas, the yard around the house didn't have any, the field and venue lawns had it though.

(just composted two days ago, still need to mow before weekend, so ignore random lines and darker areas, will be gone by showtime)

Are you the red one with the frame patch in the Bangor area, or the white one with the soft topper in Yarmouth?

Just seeing this now. Mine are relentless; and it’s a second gen. They cleared the rivits though. I can pm you a pic at lunch of the spacing between mounts and the rivets since I’m working right now.
