Going bigger in size for tires, even with the lift I have I'm expecting some rub. For extra clearance and peace of mind I want to Cab Mount Chop. I have no tools nor welding experience. Shop in town said "125 an hour and that would take roughly 3 hours to chop, weld a plate on and paint, so you're looking at just south of $400"

Am I being Scrooge McDuck thinking this is a little high? Is this a reasonable amount to expect for such a job?

I've gotten quotes for $280, and $350 for CMC+Pinch Weld.
Keep looking around for other shops, this seems to be a pretty common mod now.

Good guys and a quality shop don't get me wrong, he stated he's done CMC to damn near every 2016+ yota in our area. I can't find another mechanic in town who does such fabricating or a buddy with the necessary tools.

Sounds right for a shop, but find a local member or fabricator and I bet you can get it done for half that or less.

Dissenting view - $375 for that kind of work, here in California, sounds about right to my ears. I haven't performed or paid for the chop, so I'm not speaking from direct experience, but I feel like a lot of people on TW don't fully understand California and our cost of living.

[and ugh people, let's not start the "California" thing.]

I think some people on here may be underestimating how far away Eureka is from the rest of civilization. What shop are you talking to?

Fuel is damn near $4 a gallon, now that I've thought about it more I think $375 is reasonable for Commiefornia pricing if after he's done it looks like it came out of the factory.

Sacramento sucks, not necessarily California as a whole.

Yeah after posting I think I didn't take into effect location. I just thought most mechanics charge like 80 or 90 an hour, when he said $125 I was like damnnnn.

Local Motorsports shop. Great crew, just shopping around for comparable pricing but I have yet to find another shop willing to do it.

100-150 is the going local rate around here for non-shop "on the forum" fab types.
