My buddy’s older brother who works on old mercs was working on an 300SD once, and forgot he had left his breaker bar on the crank pulley for a valve lash adjustment.

He went to start it up. The noise that shit made is the very definition of “pucker factor.”

    :puke:

I’ll try and get it on GoPro. Nervous and excited at the same time.

Depends, how is your stomach on coasters and stuff? I assume you will have some G's regardless of your objective in the hop especially since they know they got fresh meat in the back. You will likely heat up when pulling maneuvers and so hydrating a decent amount will help and maybe bring a bottle with you if the pilot is ok with that. I would bring a small hand towel so you can wipe your face and stuff as you will be surprised how fast the sweat will come off a cold forehead when pulling maneuvers.

For food I would stay away from orange juice, oatmeal, and heavy diary items. Keep it to a light breakfast...some fruit, some bread, water, or whatever. Another thing, if you start to think about throwing up then it will happen and possibly sooner than planned so have that baggie ready. Hopefully you might be able to get some stick time and some sort of objective in the back or plan to bring a camera, for some sitting idle is a good ride...for others they need a distraction or else their stomach starts talking.

Regardless, congrats man that's a pretty bird and will be bad ass! Lastly, if you can I would unzip your flight suit about half way down if the pilot is ok with you doing this to help keep the heat down in your stomach. A common misconception is to have all your air on your face, but keep one vent at your stomach to keep the heat down.

Another tip, Im not sure what training you have had in prep for the flight...but Im sure they will brief you about handling G's and how to use your ass muscles to keep the blood flow in your head. In case you arnt familiar with this technique, its like trying to crack a walnut with your butt cheeks.

So as soon you start cranking, start working dat ass.

I finally ran into some of the turd gen transmission flaws that get bitched about all the time. I have not noticed in much around here cause I'm usually cruising around 75 on the freeway and the trans works fine at that speed. However in Utah on the mountain roads where 45-60mph was common the transmission is just plain awful it cannot hold speed with minimal peddle pressure and constantly downshifts into the 4k rpm range to just hold a steady 45-55 on a moderate grade 5-6% Then when it does flatter out it takes for ever to upshift unless you let off the gas to drop the rpm, and that starts the cycle all over again. Once I got back into AZ and the terrain flattened out and cruising at 70-78 was possible truck runs fine.

I've got the original TSB the 058 one wonder if the tsb 0062-18 is any better?

Get the most recent TSB done. It feels like a different truck.
