You can avoid that by removing them while you still can and coating them with anti-seize

I got the coating. So what you're saying is that if I get a hole, I still can get a new frame?

Bald Eagles trails are boring but the views are great.

BUT it's network of dual sport trails is one of the reason I'm itching to sell my R6, get a dual, and build the truck to be a camping/dual hauling offroader.

If you read into it the hard coating has been discontinued, they've switched to a liquid (think fluidfilm or maybe amsoil rust preventative)

I think that's the coating I got. It sucked doing my rear suspension that day

I was thinking the same thing. My truck just turned 36k and only has minor surface spots here and there. I pondered POR coating the whole thing but like you said if something happened in the future they would probably resist covering it.

I've been hearing good things about the amsoil coating. I might try that this year.

I always wonder why I see so many Tacomas for sale that just had frame replacements completed. Was the work poorly done and the truck's not the same afterwards? Or do people see it as a selling point and figure that's the best time to get rid of it?

Regarding the coating - yes that shit is messy, took a long time to "cure", and still comes off a bit when you're working underneath. Mine has held up well over the past 9 years but I only put around 3k miles a year on it. The dealer actually did a nice job masking things off, very minimal over spray surprisingly and they applied treatment on the inside of the frame as well.

Faulkner on Rt1 did mine before I bought it. I didn’t think the old frame looked that bad. It was over $10,000 in parts and labor.

Spray used oil all over and drive down a dry dirt road.

It's amazing that 9 years after the first recall they still built trucks with shit undercoat.

Yes to all these gripes... somebody please remind me why we like Tacomas if those with top dollar new to 5 year old trucks are dealing with this :poking: ? Somebody tell me a brand of truck I can expect 20-30 years from?

Nice to see a glass tech actually take the cowl off to replace the windshield I see so many hacks out there just to speed the job up.

10 years old 135,000 miles and I love her. New frame and suspension parts when I got her at 115,000.

    Allegedly.

The official camp sites are all accessible by normal car, but there's alternate routes in that are fun.

I'm not liking the aftermarket weatherstripping they installed, doesn't seal tight to the windshield and it has channels on the outer edges that look like they'll catch a ton of wind and snow/ ice and whistle on the highway. The installer said I could have them replace it if I have issues with it.

That's what I mean. First gen "recall" was in 2008. You'd think Toyota would say "shit, gotta spray a better formula that is known to work"

    11 years later...nope.

Not even close. To being ready for deer season. The 4runner is killing me. I'm heading to lock 6 on the Allegheny Saturday to sunday to fish for flatheads. Sunday I'm going to run up to Templeton lock 8 and scout it for the next time. Today I started thinking about getting a new climbing tree stan . But I'm looking for something light I can carry with a shooting bar. I never even got my cameras out this year.
