It's going to have to be one light 5th wheel trailer.

My 1998 5-Lug SR5 (3,500 Pounds Max Payload) had a fifth wheel hitch installed.

Not on a composite box. Wrong truck.

What did you pull with it? And you mean towing, not payload right?

Why? The hitch bolts to the frame rails, not the bed.

I'd be concerned about the bed length. Fifth wheels are challenging with short box trucks because the trailer can contact the cab at full lock. A gooseneck like pictured above might be alright, but I doubt a camping trailer would be. Tried this with a short box F150 and that was the problem.

Like a flat deck or a travel trailer? Cause the only 5th wheel travel trailers I've seen are usually 30+ feet and triple axle.

Composite vs steel bed is not a factor and, while the Scamp isn't a true fifth wheel, the concept is the same. The two hitch towers are mounted to 6" wide by 3/8" thick flat stock plates which are fastened to the frame using the three stock bolts on each side of the bed. The Toyota dealer transferred this setup from the 05 to the 12 in the below photo when I traded without any questions being asked. FWIW, the camper goes around 3,500 lbs loaded, tows great and mpg is 12-13 running 65 +/-.

I didn’t pull anything with that because I thought putting a fifth wheel hitch on a compact pickup truck is ridiculous. I bought it like that. 3,500 is max towing capacity for the 5-lug chassis.
