Ask @Kolunatic if he ever took advantage of free hearing exam to help with Tinnitus? I set him up.

The trick is getting it service-connected through the VA.

Didn't think anything could help with tinnitus.

People come walk on the yard for a treat. I should charge. It's slowing down, but I dare not wait longer than 7 days. And it was already last Friday!

IT WAS FREE. From the folks I get my aids at. They are great. They are also great with any insurance connections. Having VA to get it started would be nothing. And they will follow up on all insurances. They did stuff for me that was "not covered", until they hit the insurance up. Anyway.
This "noise" common to people that worked with loud, or percussive sound environments (US). The noise is created by your ears trying to create the "sounds" it thinks you should hear, and when you are in a quiet environment, it will take over. Take it from a guy that talked my dad into it, and has had them for over a decade now - when you can HEAR the real world, the noise goes away. End of rant.

You should get some compensation. Here it says $140/month at 10% without dependants:

I demo'd a cool set a couple years back. They amplified normal sound but when it got loud they became noise cancelling. So if you were out shooting you could hear conversation but not gunshots. They also had Bluetooth so you could take calls or listen to music. They were damn near invisible in your ear, I wanted a set but they were spensive. Like $2k for the entry level.

I have the 10% but I don't get paid for it, it's weird. If I add up everything it's 10% off and that's the only thing I get 10% for.

Grass, OK, I will soon. Order some of this, you have a hose end spray bottle? If not, after next C&C, let's go spray the yard and drink some beer.

Yeah, mine are like 4K, and I don't use the bluetooth because it's annoying. I don't wear them outside to work because sweat kills the batteries, and no one is talking to me anyway. But they are now indispensable for daily life. My insurance covered everything after the deductible.
If you have VA benefits, this group will find them for you.

You should get something. o_O at least continued medical coverage for your service-connected injuries. Captain America works for the VA and he'll know better than me.

It does if you have service connected hearing loss, but tinnitus is separate from hearing loss.

Oh I bet they do, and you all just don't know it. My Work insurance never came out and said it was covered, but once these folks got on it, after deductibles, insurance actually covered 80% of the aids themselves, and all of the visits. Insurance didn't tell me that, these folks did.

That's a very "disputable" call, and I think an excuse for your being in very loud environments!

The VA considers tinnitus separate from hearing loss. Tinnitus maxes-out at 10%, but true, measurable hearing loss goes much higher and I've seen guys forcibly re-classed/discharged for heating loss. I've also seen 30% for just hearing loss. They have a cool hearing scale that shows frequencies and point of damage to your hearing.
