I forgot to tell you that I have an interview on Tuesday at a machine shop.

Like how I was to blame for getting one of my friends into knives. I only gave him a piece of candy, I didn't make the guy buy a whole damn candy store. It has happened to me so only fair that I help others in return!

dammit i need to get a 3rd gen so i can fit in my general location, nothing but swarms of 3rd gens ... and some 2nds still on these midwest forums
such a pain it is to fit in have something in commons!

 

Quit while you're ahead. Ny neighbor worked as an ASE Master Tech at Audi for eight years and had to quit at 30 because his back gave out. My automotive engineering teacher at my local community college had to sell his shop because his back also went out.

 

Nice, job shop or cnc production? I would love to work at a job shop. More manual machining & constantly working on different stuff. I'd love to learn CNC but it seems like it could be very boring depending on the shop & their work.

well im short.. back issues are not as prevelent when your short because im not hunched over a hood

 

I will say, some of your concerns are 3rd gen-worthy

I can get both fle the price of one. Now thats a deal

 

Job shop that does smaller batch CNC work too (they have a vertical CNC mill, a lathe or two) but most of their work is manual one off stuff, they're right in between a couple huge auto shops and a place the restores just about anything made of metal. I'm excited, they're very busy too which bodes well.

If it was a year or two from now I'd have had an opportunity to work for some friends at their shop which is exclusively CNC, but I think it will be great to start out fresh in a job shop.
