Baja Vs Rigid Light Bars

Looking for input from people that have used or seen both. I am looking for a 20" bar and have it narrowed down to the baja onx6 20" or the rigid e-series pro 20" it will be behind a grill so it will dissipate a little anyways but any input would be greatly appreciated.

baja is more compact/sleek/sexy, also headquarters was next to my house so 100% US made and they usually fix any warranty issue for life.....However, they can be really expensive so if you can save a bunch of cash going with the ridged I would do that simply because the lower quality/light output doesn't justify $100s more in cost.

 

The baja is actually cheaper but the rigid specs says it puts out more raw lumens

Either one is a great choice. I run squadrons from BD and a 10” bar from rigid. Save a few bucks and go with the BD. The little bit of increase won’t be noticeable for your use.

 

What exactly are "raw lumens"?
And how do they differ from standard lumens?

 

I believe they are what you measure output of a paleo lighting set up.

 

Raw lumens are effectively 'theoretical lumens', the assumption that each chip will put out the peak max it is capable of multiplied by the number of chips. But LEDs do not work that way. Most LEDs are not driven to constant peak output and as LEDs heat up, their output drops. Actual lumens is the measurement of light that is actually put out. You'll notice most LEDs are advertised in raw lumens. Raw lumen to actual can vary depending on the quality of the LEDs, but generally I'd give roughly 1/2 for most LEDs up to 2/3 for high end LEDs to convert raw to actual. So 1000 raw lumens may be 500-660 actual lumens. Halogen and HID do not have this raw lumen concept, output is measured in actual lumens. It is important to note the differences when comparing output.

Raw lumens means nothing. Also Candela > Lumens. You can have all the lumens in the world, but if it can't effectively illuminate the areayou want to see, who cares?

Also, Baja > Rigid all day any day. Pricey? Yes. Quality when it counts? Also yes.

Go visit a race like the Mint, etc and see how many run one vs the other. It's pretty one sided.

 

They are both pretty solid lights though.
